The Philadelphia International Airport is the only major airport serving the 9th largest metropolitan area in the United States. It is one of the busiest airports in the country, serving more than 30 million passengers annually. Twenty-seven airlines, including all domestic carriers, offer nearly 323 daily departures to more than 120 destinations worldwide. The airport generates $16.8 billion to the economy and accounts for 106,000 full time jobs.
The Northeast Philadelphia airport is situated on 1150 acres in the northeast part of the City of Philadelphia, PNE is Pennsylvania’s third busiest airport, providing “on call” US Customs, Immigrations and United States Department of Agriculture services to corporate international travel. The Airport averages 215-based aircraft, dominated by single engine aircraft, plus twins, jets, turboprops and helicopters.
Job Description
Position Summary
The Aviation Grants Coordinator position supports the development and implementation of the Department of Aviation’s (Aviation) grant portfolio for both Philadelphia International and Northeast Airports. This includes assisting the Department of Aviation’s Grants Administrator with all facets of administering the federal and state grant programs.
A methodological and analytical approach to identify, track, and comply with grant requirements is a significant aspect of the work. Strong attention to detail. The position reports to the Aviation Grants Administrator.
Essential Functions
- Supporting preparation of federal and state grant applications
- Assisting with the processing of grant agreements through federal and state agencies and the City’s Law and Finance Departments
- Preparing grant reimbursement requests
- Monitoring compliance with grant requirements
- Review and enter any required grant information in the Airport’s tracking system, Mercury
- Assist with grant reporting and revenue tracking
- Assist with any state and federal reporting requirements
Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Aviation Sector: Specifically, the understanding of airport specific grant programs
- Understanding of Capital Projects and Associated Funding: Basic understanding of capital projects process, technical documents and associated funding sources by work type
- Attention to Detail: Possesses strong attention to detail around grant reimbursements, applications and other required reporting
- Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience
- Knowledge of Federal/State Grant Requirements: Understands FAA requirements and forms along with state requirements for all aviation programs
- Active Problem Solver: Resourcefully works to gather required grant information for both aviation pre-applications and applications
- Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure, sometimes with short deadlines.
Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university.
RESIDENCY
New hires must establish and maintain residency in the city of Philadelphia within 6 months of appointment. Current City of Philadelphia employees must maintain residency in the City of Philadelphia while employed in this position.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
Obtainment of a Security Badge is a condition of employment. Must pass and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and STA (Security Threat Assessment) clearance at the time of appointment and during tenure of employment.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000
