Overview

This role will have ownership and oversight of Life Insurance, AD&D, Long-Term Disability (LTD), Individual Disability Insurance, Voluntary Benefits and related benefit programs across Chick-fil-A and Vertical Lines of Business, as well as other related entities. As the recognized enterprise expert in this space, the role is accountable for ensuring programs are strategically designed, effectively governed, operationally sound, and aligned with organizational objectives. This individual applies deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and compassion to navigate complex benefit matters that often carry significant personal, financial, and organizational impact. Operating with substantial autonomy, the role influences decisions across leadership, Legal, Talent, Payroll, and external partners while balancing risk management, regulatory stewardship, and exceptional Staff care. Through trusted consultation and thoughtful leadership, this role helps ensure Chick-fil-A's Life, Disability and Voluntary Benefit programs remain sustainable, compliant, scalable, and reflective of the organization's commitment to care.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for Life Insurance, AD&D, Long-Term Disability, Individual Disability Insurance, and certain voluntary benefit programs, providing strategic guidance across Chick-fil-A and affiliated entities; recognizes nuances among entities served, thoughtfully solving for unique needs while maintaining an enterprise lens.
  • Lead the governance and strategic oversight of Life and Disability programs, ensuring plans are aligned with organizational objectives, compliance requirements, financial stewardship, and Staff care expectations.
  • Independently lead highly complex and sensitive disability, life insurance, and survivor cases, exercising advanced judgment in policy interpretation, risk assessment, and resolution of unique circumstances.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Staff members, families, leaders, and business partners, delivering second-mile care during serious illness, disability, and death-related events while balancing empathy, compliance, and business needs.
  • Influence outcomes through direct consultation with insurance carriers, vendors, Legal, Talent, Payroll, and Compliance partners, resolving escalated matters and negotiating solutions to complex benefit and claim issues.
  • Identify emerging risks, regulatory changes, and operational trends impacting Life and Disability programs and develop recommendations to mitigate risk and strengthen organizational readiness.
  • Drive strategic initiatives that enhance program effectiveness, improve Staff experience, strengthen vendor performance, and optimize operational processes and technology solutions. Drive Workday capability improvements related to LTD to enhance processes and data, partnering and influencing cross-functionally with other teams such as HRIS, Payroll and Talent.
