Senior Category Manager
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a dynamic and analytical Senior Category Manager - Exotics to join our growing and fast-paced merchandising team. We have very ambitious plans at Chewy and building our Merchandising teams and businesses are the top priority. Our Category Managers are passionate entrepreneurial minded contributors that enjoy relevant and impactful results growing our brand. In this role, you will help build the Exotics categories, build positive relationships with suppliers, negotiate to improve business terms, lead all aspects of the vendor relationships, develop, and implement business strategies, and see opportunities to accelerate your business.

Our ideal candidate is a versatile business leader with a track record of high performance, that can think big and operate at depth in parallel. Merchandising, retail, and or product experience are great backgrounds for this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead vendor partnerships and growth strategies across the Aquatics & Reptile categories in tandem with 2 category managers.
- Establish, build, and manage strong vendor partner relationships, including ownership across all assortments, pricing, cost/rebate/terms negotiations.
- Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts.
- Find opportunities within your category to optimize and improve product performance, including analyzing sales data, assortment gaps, and market trends to make quick, effective decisions for your business.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, supply chain, pricing, and customer service to ensure collaboration as well as comprehensive planning and execution.
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years of comprehensive business experience in E-commerce, merchandising, retail, FMCG, or similar organizations.
- Strong comprehensive business sense and the willingness to move fast.
- Sales/Merchandising experience.
- Proven operator, skilled in go-to-market, and with focus on execution.
- Great communication skills combined with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Outstanding competencies in vendor management/merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management.
- Ability to lead, be nimble, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, SQL, and strong knowledge of retail math.
- Must have Aquatics experience.
