Business Intelligence Engineer III
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a highly motivated, analytical, and collaborative Senior BI Engineer to join our growing Retail Analytics team. Combining an understanding of analytics, finance, strong practical knowledge of multiple business intelligence tools, and using data to make and drive, this candidate will be responsible for scaling self-serve analytics tools and data products across both internal and external stakeholders. The person in this role will work cross-functionally with the category management team, finance department, and additional analytics teams throughout the organization. With a self-starter mentality, outstanding communication, and the ability to drive projects, you can thrive and make a meaningful impact on the business. This role will focus on building advanced reporting, streamlining and optimizing existing reports, and creating scalable, performant queries to populate various reports. This role requires a candidate with high-level SQL proficiency, deep understanding of Tableau, and the tenacity to push through to complete difficult projects. A deep interest in data, passion for collaboration and communication, and an analytic, probing mind are all necessities.

What You'll Do:
- Work cross-functionally with the broader Chewy finance team and the analytics, merchandising, product, marketing, tech, and accounting teams to fully understand the business, its customers, and overall operations to develop new mechanisms and efficient processes
- Effectively manage numerous projects at a given time in a fast-paced environment
- Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models, reports/dashboards/BI solutions for analytics and deep learning to produce concise outputs to convey recommendations and conclusions to senior management
- Recognize and propose analyses influencing business partners and finance leaders to drive positive changes in the business
- Develop a deep understanding of the economics for Chewy's core retail and non-retail services to support pricing, membership benefits, marketing and adoption, and other critical strategic decisions
- Partner with team members and cross-functional leaders and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial review and forecasting processes to identify planning assumptions for key business drivers and track performance while explaining variances to plan and identifying risks and opportunities
- Take initiative in leading peers, team members, and business partners to help achieve business, team, and personal goals

What You'll Need:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of BI data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools
- 4+ years of work experience with large BI environments
- 4+ years of work experience in building self-serve BI solutions, canned reports and enterprise level BI solutions
- 4+ years of experience with data modeling in large Data warehousing, data lake environment
- 4+ years of experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau/BO/OBIEE, etc.
- 1+ years of data science experience with building regression, classification models
- Exposure to Big Data stack environments (EMR, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive)
- Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting.
- Good analytical skills with excellent and advanced knowledge of SQL
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
