We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and adaptable Senior UX Designer (individual contributor) who is passionate about understanding user needs and pain points to join the User Experience Design (UX) team. This role requires a designer who can independently lead their work, navigate ambiguity, and take ownership from problem definition through execution, while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.

This role plays a critical part in shaping Schwab's digital experiences by translating complex financial needs into intuitive, trustworthy, and high-quality client interactions that empower millions of clients to confidently manage their financial lives.

As a Senior UX Designer, you are responsible for:

UX design expertise and execution:

  • Bring products to life, designing solutions that delight and satisfy our clients and meet business needs
  • Support product design efforts from discovery to final delivery
  • Design interactions across desktop, mobile web and native mobile experiences
  • Create solutions together with a cross-functional Agile team
  • Independently drive design exploration and decision-making, defining problems and proposing solutions
  • Own delivery of assigned work, proactively addressing challenges and proposing solutions
  • Maintain high design standards aligned to channel guidelines and the Charles Schwab design system, while thoughtfully evolving patterns and approaches when appropriate

Teamwork, collaboration, and engagement:

  • Build strong, productive partnerships with peers and cross-functional partners through clear communication, shared understanding, and mutual accountability
  • Model strong leadership behaviors by setting a clear, accountable example through craft, communication, and follow-through
  • Mentor or support less experienced designers when opportunities arise

Your approach:

  • Put clients first by making thoughtful design decisions grounded in user needs, business priorities, and long-term value
  • Set a clear path for your work by articulating direction, tradeoffs, and next steps, especially in ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrate a challenger mindset by constructively questioning assumptions and exploring better ways forward
  • Lead through change by adapting quickly, learning continuously, and helping partners navigate evolving requirements
  • Communicate authentically and clearly, building trust through transparency, accountability, and follow-through

Required Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of UX design experience focused on digital products or equivalent
  • 1+ year of UX experience for touch-based mobile interfaces
  • An online portfolio showcasing design thinking leading to innovative solutions
  • Experience with most aspects of a user-centered design process, including user research, developing user flows, creating wireframes, and building interactive prototypes for testing
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using AI-powered tools or workflows (professionally or independently) to support design, research, or problem-solving, with an interest in applying emerging technologies thoughtfully in client experiences
  • Strong self-management skills and comfort owning work independently
  • Ability to clearly communicate design decisions to diverse audiences
  • Some technical knowledge or experience collaborating closely with engineers

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
