The Advisor Services Technology (AST) group within Schwab Technology Services (STS) is responsible for applications, services, platforms and technologies required to deliver a suite of solutions across Advisor Experience Technologies (AET), Advisor Trading Technologies (ATT), Data & 3rd party Integrations (D&I) and Back office functions.
AST Operations (AST Ops) is responsible for AST Platform health & operational excellence, cloud & infrastructure management, incident response & problem management, platform observability, instrumentation & security, devops & release engineering, change & release management for all AST applications, services & platforms.

The Senior Manager, Lead (PL) will report to the Director, AST SAVE Production Support & Release Management and will be responsible for operational production support leadership for Advisor Trading Technologies (ATT), Data & 3rd party Integrations (D&I) and Back office functions. The role is responsible for leadership over all Operational & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) aspects of the Advisor Trading, Data, 3rd party integration and back office applications in scope, with a focus on productivity and efficiency through process improvement, automation and tooling, in line with AST Operational goals, objectives & key results. The role will oversee a team of SRE engineers and will be responsible for ensuring the team executes to the vision, by developing consistent and predictable monitoring frameworks (health checks, predictive modeling, Incident detection and restoration etc), implement best practices, communicate progress and reporting metrics to both Technology and Business stakeholders.
Exceptional leadership, business engagement, cross functional partnership, interpersonal skills, including teamwork, communication, negotiation, curiosity, and ability to learn technologies quickly are key qualities for success in this role.
What you have
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technology field
- 10+ years of experience in a technology leadership role, specifically across highly availability applications, operations, distributed systems and technology delivery in a complex, diversified financial services environment
- 10+ years of experience in software development and/or operations roles with a focus on reducing manual operational tasks through automation. Strong understanding & experience with Production Support, infrastructure, databases, Data delivery, File movement & batch processing, CICD, DevOps and applications / application support or equivalent
- Strong business influence skills and able to shape, define and present a complete and thorough picture of Schwab's control environment including developing thoughtfully written action plans, well-executed remediation's and clear/regular communication to executive management
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
Preferred Qualification
- Master's degree in computer science or related technology field
- Experience with Institutional or Retail Trading Technologies, Enterprise Data in Financial Services industry
- Experience collaborating with various roles across a Technology Organization (Technology Operations, Application Development, Operations, Network, Server, etc)
- Adherence to Risk and Compliance controls to minimize business risk
