The Digital Utilities Technology team is looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Digital Services Platform Utilities teams. Schwab has a long-time recognized excellence in client service over traditional channels (e.g., telephone,branch) and we are working to parallel that for clients in their experiences with Schwab. You will be a key contributor of extending that excellence to multiple applications and platforms that orchestrate and support both digital and paper channels. Your role as a people leader will be to engage, lead and develop talented software engineers across multiple scrum teams and digital transformations.
You will be part of a larger organization called Cross Enterprise Services (CES), which is focused on deliveringconsistent, enterprise quality and highly performant shared services for all of Schwab's systems as building blocks for outstanding end-user experiences. CES offers a wide range of technological opportunities for the best and brightest people to grow and demonstrate their skills.
In this position you will have a broad range of responsibilities with a central focus on collaborating with developers to support and develop innovative, highly scalable services to all Schwab clients. You will:
- Manage and coordinate team interaction with business, technology, and ops support partners.
- Develop resource roadmaps, budget, and schedule.
- Identify gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans (both technical and people)
- Continually strive for improvements in process, talent acquisition/retention, application time-to-market and quality
- Increase the overall visibility of this team; celebrate/track accomplishments and build relationships with key leaders in other groups.
- Identify and document the roles, tasks, and responsibilities of each team member.
- Lead all recruiting activities across the team (create different avenues when necessary)
- Provide firsthand technical mentoring when necessary (plus)
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of application management/leadership experience with at least 4-6 years of distributed software development experience.
- Combined 10+ years of hands-on Software development / Project Management / Scrum Master experience.
- 8+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies using Agile (Scrum/XP/Kanban) processes in planning, implementation, and support of business application components, including change & release management.
- 6+ years of experience in messaging platforms such as Kafka and Rabbit
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Technology
- Proficiency in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, geographically dispersed environment.
- Deep understanding of SDLC, agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
- Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and critical thinking skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management.
- Strong coaching and mentoring experience to build and sustain a high-performance team.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline is preferred.
Leadership and Management:
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate successfully with business partners, technology team, production support and infrastructure teams.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and critical thinking skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication
- Demonstrated ability and curiosity to evangelize vision and direction in a way that drives team engagement and motivation.
- Proven record successfully building, leading and growing technology teams including work in the agile process, objective setting, career path guidance, and staff performance.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic fast paced environment with many moving parts and a large variety of responsibilities including geographical diversity of technical functions.
- Self-starter with strong prioritization and multitasking capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical discussions and drive solutions forward to achieving business needs and ensure alignment to strategic technology vision.
- Demonstrated experience with designing or working with highly available and reliable systems
- Strong experience facilitating issue intervention and driving improvements.
- Strong skills in risks identification, tracking and planned mitigation.
- Extremely strong written and verbal communication skill
- Strong innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skill
- Experience with ASP.NET Web API, C#, Java Script, Kafka, Rabbit, RESTful Services, CI/CD automation
- Familiarity with enterprise IT systems and/or cloud (e.g., networking, capacity planning, operations etc.)preferred.
