The Technology Risk Management (TRM) team, part of the larger Corporate Risk Management (CRM) organization, is charged with the oversight of first line activities related to the strategy and execution of Schwab's digital asset offerings specific to technology and information security risks. We combine strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and cross-functional collaboration as well as to deliver guidance, effective challenge, and recommendations that influence process, execution, and infrastructure to help make certain Schwab's risks are managed in a way that ensures we remain the most trusted partner in financial services.

As a Sr. Manager on the Digital Asset Oversight team within Technology Risk Management, you will support that guidance and effective challenge through applying your unique subject matter expertise while working with Digital Assets product leads, technology engineering, cybersecurity architecture, and other CRM teams. You will also help convey the state of that risk to Schwab leadership through effective reporting and established oversight processes.

Success in this role includes delivering timely risk assessments, improving first-line control maturity, reducing thematic findings, and enhancing visibility of digital asset risks to leadership.You will directly influence Schwab's digital asset roadmap by shaping risk decisions that safeguard our clients and maintain trust in Schwab's evolving digital ecosystem.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams to execute key risk management activities, including Risk and Control Assessments, Threat Modeling, Thematic Testing, and Issue Management.
  • Lead multiple risk disciplines to develop informed risk perspectives and support critical decision-making throughout digital asset product implementation.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of first-line activities, reviewing custody-related reporting and operational data to identify risks that may exceed the Company's established risk appetite.
  • Evaluate internal risk exposure by developing, monitoring, and refining meaningful risk metrics.
  • Identify, escalate, and track emerging risks and industry developments within the digital asset ecosystem that may impact Schwab's strategy.
  • Partner closely with TRM, Technology, and Business teams to drive continuous process improvement and ensure timely, well-supported responses to risk-related inquiries.

This position is M-F, 8am-5pm local time and a hybrid work model. It will be 4 days in-office, 1 day from home, during standard business hours. It is only available in the areas listed. Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed areas.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years in cybersecurity or technology risk.
  • Experience with digital assets, blockchain, or crypto custody/security.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks: NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, FFIEC.
  • Strong communication and risk articulation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cybersecurity related certification such as: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, CISA or similar.
  • Crypto-focused credentials or blockchain training.
  • Experience with digital asset custody platforms or HSMs.
  • Understanding of tokenization risks, DeFi vulnerabilities, or smart-contract audit practices.
  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks related to crypto (e.g., SEC, OCC, NYDFS).
  • Experience with GRC (Governance Risk & Compliance) platforms.
