This role is responsible for ensuring the continued operation and scalability of the I&O Ansible Automation Platform. Schwab is adopting RedHat AAP to transform the way infrastructure automation is executed. Our strategic direction is to manage our infrastructure though code by adopting an IaC methodology. This role will be responsible for helping ensure the AAP platform remains available and functional to provide infrastructure-wide automation. This role will also be responsible for developing new automation tasks for OS platforms. The individual should have in-depth experience running, patching and troubleshooting RedHat's Ansible Automation Platform product. You will join a well-established and highly technical Linux engineering team, whose responsibilities are to adopt new technologies, establish usage guidelines, and ensure OS platforms meet strict security and availability requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and execute ansible playbooks
  • Lifecycle manage the AAP platform (upgrade, patch, migrate)
  • Partner with application development and infrastructure teams to align strategies.
  • Engage with various teams to ensure OS configurations follow security and control standards.
  • Engage with various teams across the organization to solve business and technical issues.
  • Provide end-to-end ownership of technology products that include complete lifecycle.
  • Author documentation such as runbooks and best practices.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth experience with RedHat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), version 2.5 using containers
  • Experience adding new capabilities/libraries to the AAP product
  • Deploying, patching and upgrading AAP
  • Experience working with enterprise Linux environments scaling beyond 5,000+ systems
  • Extensive knowledge with enterprise Server Operating Systems such as RHEL 8 and 9
  • In-depth RedHat Linux OS and podman container products, specifically:
    o Deploying OS platforms and container runtimes
    o Applying (and rollback) security patches
    o Adherence to security standards
    o Troubleshooting OS and container runtimes
  • Ability to participate in teams across organizations to solve business and technical issues
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes (Lean, Agile, Kanban)
  • Excellent scripting skills, experience with Python, Perl and/or shell
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them toward the investigation of existing installations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to summarize complex technical and business issues to the appropriate audience
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive clarity and actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to document issue summary, provide root cause analysis, and implement remediation actions
  • Create technology efficiency and new capabilities using automation
  • Experience and understanding of OS lifecycle management and secure system configurations
  • Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting server OS issues (CPU, Memory and I/O)
  • Ability to automate common and repeatable tasks/processes
  • Experience interacting with APIs to automate processes
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise storage technologies, such as NAS and S3
