Job Duties: Lead due diligence on external investment managers across asset classes (Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure), focusing on underwriting investment strategies, risk-adjusted performance metrics, manager's ability to create value & market dynamics. Develop & apply proprietary quantitative models to evaluate portfolio exposure, attribution, contribution, ex-ante return expectations, consistency, factor exposures, & downside risk. Conduct qualitative assessments of investment philosophy, organizational stability, & governance structures. Conduct on-site due diligence sessions w/ external managers; select personnel for interviews, conduct interviews, analyze & publish findings in due diligence reports. Partner w/ Quantitative Investment Research & Product Management to align manager selection w/ firm-wide strategy & client mandates. Coordinate w/ Operational Due Diligence to evaluate non-investment risks, inc'l compliance, legal, & tax. Advise on positioning investment products. SME for Private Equity & Private Real estate. Analyze emerging investment trends, regulatory changes, & macroeconomic conditions to inform strategy. Develop proprietary frameworks for manager evaluation w/in defined alternative assets class & subclasses. Prepare reports, investment memorandum & presentations for investment committees, synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations. Present research findings & recommendations to stakeholders. Evaluate approved investment managers to ensure adherence to stated strategies & risk parameters. Review performance attribution, portfolio positioning, & compliance w/ investment guidelines. Evaluate complex quantitative models & qualitative factors to benchmark investment managers' performance & operational soundness against peers & underwriting expectations. Review organizational structure, compliance programs, & operational infrastructure. Integrate data, inc'l financial statements, quarterly reports & publicly available data to determine qualitative risks related to approved managers. Monitor ownership, key personnel, or service providers that could affect operational stability Identify potential red flags or deviations that could impact client portfolios. Organize & participate in meetings w/ investment managers to discuss findings & updates. Prepare periodic due diligence reports for internal committees. Monitor global economic trends, regulatory changes, & emerging investment strategies that could impact Schwab's alternative portfolios. Collaborate w/ the Operational Due Diligence team to assess non-investment risks inc'l governance, compliance, legal & tax. Coordinate follow-up actions w/ the Product team when necessary. Request remediation plans from managers. Document & propose the removal of external investment managers when specific conditions are met. Position allows for 100% remote work. Reports to company HQs in Westlake, TX. Subject to Schwab's internal approach to workplace flexibility. Position requires travel (20% domestic and 10% international).

What you have

Job Requirements: Bachelor's in Business Administration , Economics, or a related field and 84 months of progressive, post-Bachelor's experience in a related occupation. . Experience must include 84 months of experience involving the following: Sourcing alternative investment opportunities and conducting all stages of investment due diligence targeting Private Equity, Real estate and Infrastructure; Investment compliance requirements, tax legislation, and structuring; Collecting and interpreting accounting, tax and financial market information to produce accurate quantitative financial models, insightful competitive analysis, and research recommendations; and Applied mathematics pertaining to Private Equity investment due diligence including, probability theory and statistics, optimization techniques, and numerical methods with focus on Monte Carlo simulations and finite difference methods. .

We offer competitive pay and benefits. Starting compensation depends on related experience. Annual bonus and other eligible earnings are not included in the ranges above.
