Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.

This newly created role will support the future growth of the WAS Tech business. As a seasoned, hands-on Senior Scrum Master, you will enable WAS Tech to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and provide Agile oversight in the areas of software development and testing. You'll serve as a strong and versatile hands-on scrum master. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwab's Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab's WAS business and their clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Core Certification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I), or equivalent Agile certification
  • Professional Experience: 7+ years as a Scrum Master in enterprise software development environments, with proven track record of coaching teams of 5-9 members to achieve consistent velocity and meet sprint commitments
  • Ceremony Facilitation Expertise: Demonstrated experience facilitating all Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews) and managing product backlogs with Product Owners
  • Impediment Resolution: Experience identifying, tracking, and resolving team impediments and organizational blockers in fast-paced, iterative development environments with changing priorities
  • Agile Tooling & Metrics: Proficiency with Agile project management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Rally) and knowledge of Agile metrics and reporting (burndown charts, velocity tracking, sprint health metrics)
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively across developers, QA engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Certifications & Seniority: Advanced Scrum certifications (CSP-SM, PSM II) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC); 7+ years of Scrum Master experience with at least 2 years in senior or lead role
  • Scald Agile & Enterprise Experience: Experience in scaled Agile environments (SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale), facilitating large-scale planning events (PI Planning, quarterly business reviews), and managing release planning across multiple teams
  • Multi-Framework Expertise: Familiarity with multiple Agile frameworks beyond Scrum (Kanban, XP, Lean); understanding of DevOps, CI/CD concepts, and technical practices (test-driven development, continuous integration, automated testing)
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Experience coaching and mentoring junior Scrum Masters or Agile practitioners; proven ability to influence organizational culture and drive adoption of Agile best practices
  • Regulated Industry & Change Management: Financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industry experience; change management and organizational transformation experience; knowledge of compliance and security requirements
  • Technical Background & Analytics: Background in software development, quality assurance, or technical project management; Agile analytics experience using data to drive team improvements; proficiency with collaboration tools (Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams)
