The Branch Network Sales Operations team leads the design and delivery of programs and capabilities that advance our client-relationship model across the mass affluent, high-net-worth, and ultra-high-net-worth segments. We strengthen this model enhancing scale and operational efficiency, and equipping our teams with the wealth-management and sales-effectiveness tools needed to build trusted relationships and drive sustainable growth.

The Managing Director, Sales Learning and Coaching, is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for shaping a world-class learning ecosystem that equips sales professionals across the Branch Network and centralized relationship models with the capabilities needed to meet evolving client expectations. This role oversees the design, delivery, and continuous innovation of learning programs, coaching models, and career development pathways to elevate performance and strengthen Schwab's modern wealth management experience. Key focus areas include:

Learning Strategy, Team Leadership & Operating Model:

  • Manage and lead the Learning & Coaching operating model that supports the Branch Network (Domestic and International), Workplace, and Centralized Solutions. Build an integrated approach to learning delivery, including:
    • Standardized role-based learning pathways
    • Clear milestones aligned to performance expectations
    • Omni-channel learning modalities (in-person, virtual, micro-learning, digital tools)
  • Expand and modernize the Coaching function to scale with channel growth, ensuring coaches consistently develop sales expertise, behavioral skills, and practice management excellence.
  • Shape organizational structure, talent strategy, and resource allocation to support a high-performing learning organization.

Modern Wealth Management Platform Enablement

  • Partner with key stakeholders to enable the sales channel's relationship operating model, with a focus on:
    • Practice management excellence
    • Core wealth management knowledge and broader specialization
    • Financial planning skills
    • Trusted advisor capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with Schwab Center for Financial Research to ensure curriculum reflects Schwab's point of view on critical wealth management topics.

Enterprise Partnerships & Regulatory Readiness

  • Work closely with Client Experience, Talent Management, Compensation, Compliance, Supervision, Legal, Wealth & Advice and product business partners to design and execute:

  • Innovation, Technology & Operational Excellence

    • Champion innovation in learning, including the integration of AI, simulation, data analytics, and modern digital learning tools.
    • Drive efficiency and scale by introducing automated workflows, updated curricula design processes, and improved measurement frameworks.
    • Maintain a "can-if" mindset-testing, piloting, and implementing new approaches that accelerate skills development and improve learner experience.

    What you have

    • A minimum of 10 years leading learning and training function for the branch/retail enterprise organization in a diversified Financial Services firm or leading large service organizations wherein they had experience with recruiting, training, and developing talent.
    • A demonstrated track record of execution of large, complex platform initiatives. This leader and the organization they lead will have a critical influence on the recruitment of talent, learning and development, and career pathing/ retention of retail broker/dealer professionals and he/she will be integral in helping mold and shape the culture of the branch network and ensures the needs of professionals and mangers are met through various talent activities.
    • Track record of successful collaboration with key cross-functional partners and varying levels of leadership to advance the Service organizations objectives.
    • Experience in providing thought leadership in innovation on learning strategy to drive transformation in talent. Understand the work force of the future, help the organization discover and understand its gaps and lead viable solutions to make progress on the same.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the employee experience life cycle from how we show up on college campuses, pre-day one ideal candidate experience, day one experience, on boarding experience, licensing experience etc.
    • Ability to leverage strategic and analytical capabilities to make sound, timely decisions based on client and field input supporting and maintaining a strong service delivery environment including evaluating risk versus expense versus the client experience.
    • An ability to identify and drive solutions at scale - Ability to build trust with Frontline leaders to drive successful execution of key initiatives. Gains a deep understanding of what it means to be a front line professional and identify Solutions to alleviate pain points.
    • Extremely strong client relationship management and negotiation skills required with the ability to assess and effectively communicate processing capabilities and identify alternative solutions for clients and business partners.
    • Combination of strategic, practical, and creative thinker; strong "systemic" thinker who can connect all the dots, taking the initiative and resulting capabilities from concept to execution.
    • Confidence and courage in business and talent decisions, actions, and communications with a demonstrated ability to take decisive action when needed, including championing ideas, position, or dissent.
    • Experience managing a significant budget and hiring plan with material enterprise-wide business impact.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
    • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.
    • Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting, and developing talent for the firm; adept at providing balanced, direct, and actionable feedback to employees. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths.
    • An undergraduate degree is required, Advanced degree preferred.
    • Series 7 or 24 is required.
