Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements.
- Familiarity with building interfaces between Legacy and modern distributed applications.
- Be able to contribute to Design and implementation of modernization strategies for legacy applications, including mainframe migration and refactoring, mainframe callouts to Distributed platforms.
- Evaluate existing legacy systems and propose solutions for improving performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to legacy application modernization.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, platform teams, Architects and globally distributed cross-domain teams.
- Ability to be part of a technical team, providing support and sharing knowledge with peers.
- Experienced in Agile software development practices, strong commitment to adhering to project timelines and delivering high-quality results within specified deadlines.
- Be self-motivated, driven, and passionate in resolving complex and time-sensitive business problems through simple and innovative technical solutions.
- Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a Mainframe software developer, with exposure to Financial industry.
- Experience/familiarity with Stored Procedures, Datacom DB, DB2, Postgres SQL.
- Exposure in Tools such as ChangeMan, BMC Remedy, Xpeditor, Control-M, REXX, Jira, Rally.
- Experience in 3-tier application with Mainframe batch integrated with distributed processing.
- Experience in SQL, data driven requirement gathering and troubleshooting
- Experience with Mainframe batch troubleshooting, data analysis, sort techniques, batch scheduling and file manipulation.
- Experience with Messaging technologies such as IBM MQs, Rabbit MQ, file transfers (SFTP, Globalscape), NAS, SPOS, ES3.
- Experience as a developer on an agile scrum team is a plus.
- Some exposure/knowledge of AI & AI based automation (exposure to GitHub Copilot preferred along with some Python skills).
- Exposure to distributed technologies, Scripting languages (Shell script, Python etc) and Customer Communication.
- Management Systems like OpenText Exstream is a plus.
- Proven track record of delivering on the design & development of complex, enterprise-level software systems and in providing exemplary support post-deployment.
- Good knowledge and hands-on experience in Financial Industry - specifically with Brokerage Business, high-volume batch processes and transactions processing/Balances/Positions.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Technical Skillsets must include 7-8+ years of strong COBOL, DB2, CICS, MQs, JCL, EasyTrieve, Stored Procedures.
