Wealth & Advice Services Technology develops and operates some of Schwab's most innovative investing solutions, helping clients achieve their financial goals through personalized experiences. As a Software Development Engineer supporting Digital Advice Technology, you will contribute to Schwab's automated investing platforms and play an important role in delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality technology solutions that power critical client experiences.
In this role, you will partner closely with technology teams, product owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop, test, and support applications that enable Schwab's digital advice offerings. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, applying engineering best practices to create maintainable, secure, and scalable solutions across APIs, user interfaces, databases, services, and supporting platforms. Your work will directly influence the stability, performance, and evolution of key investment products while helping improve operational efficiency and client outcomes.
Success in this role requires combining technical expertise with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. You will investigate production issues, evaluate technical alternatives, contribute to architectural discussions, and implement solutions that balance business needs with long-term sustainability. As part of an Agile team, you will collaborate with peers to continuously improve engineering quality through automated testing, continuous integration and delivery practices, performance optimization, and adoption of modern development approaches. What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience developing applications using C# and Angular
- Experience developing solutions with .NET Core and .NET Framework
- Experience migrating content or applications from one content management system to Drupal
- Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting software solutions across the software development lifecycle
- Experience building automated unit, integration, acceptance, or end-to-end testing solutions
- Experience supporting Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices
- Working knowledge of cloud-native and on-premises application development
- Knowledge of software design patterns and modern engineering principles
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root-cause analysis
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience contributing to application, platform, or solution architecture decisions
- Experience improving performance, scalability, and reliability across UI, API, and CI/CD components
- Understanding of enterprise software engineering patterns and best practices
- Experience working on customer-facing digital products within financial services or regulated industries
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships across engineering and business teams
- Passion for continuous learning and adopting new technologies
- Ability to influence technical decisions and contribute to engineering excellence initiatives
In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
