We are looking for a dynamic Director of Finance to lead a team supporting Wealth Advisory (WA), Schwab's holistic advice solutions and specialist teams, including Schwab Wealth Advisory and Schwab Advisor Network. The Director will maintain and enhance key relationships as a trusted business advisor with our key business partners. The Director will also provide support and collaboration within the overall WA Finance team in support of revenue and expense forecasting, analytics, and complex business cases. Finance is heavily involved in financial modeling, and product/solution profitability analyses and provides financial planning, analysis and reporting in support of WA and its business functions including Sales, Strategy and Product Management.
Key Outcomes:
- Lead, develop and coach a team of finance professionals
- Advise business partners on strategic alternatives and potential impact of decisions. Provide insights into critical trends and evaluate opportunities in support of strategic and competitive growth initiatives
- Identify opportunities to engage business partners on a strategic and operational level to support our firm objectives and engage colleagues from across the organization as needed
- Collaborate and partner with business, WA Finance, Central Finance, and team members to simplify the complex, break down barriers, and incorporate the ideas of others
- Innovate and continuously improve our processes for reporting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Develop deep knowledge of Wealth & Advisory business and products and become a valued thought partner with business partners and stakeholders in other areas of Schwab
- Perform ad-hoc analyses related to understanding business, product performance and P&L metrics
- Manage our driver-based modeling and financial planning/forecasting processes
- Develop and present communications with clear and concise messages that resonate with a target audience, particularly senior leadership, and business partners with deep industry and product knowledge
What you have
Required Experience:
- A minimum of 10+ years of increasingly responsible financial leadership roles with experience in financial planning and business analysis
- Ability to leverage strategic and analytical capabilities to provide thought leadership and advice to senior leadership and their teams
- Ability to attract top talent and build high-performing teams. Proven experience inspiring, empowering and developing individuals to achieve a high level of team engagement and trust with an authentic leadership style.
- Experience with direct people management/leadership
- Exceptional ability to influence and build relationships and trust with business partners, as well as executive presence to respectfully challenge the status quo.
- Change agent focused on continuous improvement and demonstrated ability to take decisive action in a highly collaborative approach
- Bachelor's degree
- Familiarity with relational databases and experience with tools such as IBM Cognos, Business Objects, and SQL (or Hyperion Essbase)
Preferred Experience:
- MBA or equivalent preferred
- Financial services industry experience highly preferred; specifically in Wealth and Advisory.
