Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking an innovative and strategic Corporate External Affairs, Senior Manager to enhance and protect our reputation as a trusted leader in financial services.

Based in Westlake, Texas, this position will be responsible for the development and execution of corporate initiatives and executive thought leadership opportunities that align with corporate priorities and strategies.

This role will also support the advancement of traditional and non-traditional media relations efforts. The ideal candidate will possess 8-10 plus years of progressive experience in communications or public relations, with a clear record of advancing executive thought leadership and media influence for complex, highly regulated organizations.

Schwab's Corporate Affairs team creates value by engaging stakeholders in Schwab's story, building trust, and protecting and strengthening the firm's reputation. We are shapers and protectors of Schwab's communications, culture, and reputation, building connections with key stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead "always-on" campaign management for high-priority corporate communications initiatives, proactively orchestrating integrated approaches that sustain momentum, amplify key brand narratives, and ensure agile response to emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Identify and support high impact speaking engagement opportunities for select members of Charles Schwab's corporate executive council and spokespeople, partnering to secure placements at premier financial and business events.
  • Support message development and management, drafting compelling messages and content -including keynotes, panel remarks, media statements, op-eds, and digital commentary that are tailored for both industry and consumer audiences.
  • Develop communications content for range of external needs, ensuring consistent, impactful communications across external channels and audiences.
  • Partner with Schwab's Corporate Digital Reputation Team on "digital-first" approaches to external communications, leveraging a mix of owned, earned, and paid digital channels to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Develop and implement a forward-looking communications approach to identify and engage new and emerging media profiles, digital outlets, and influential personas, cultivating relationships that expand the organization's reach and ensuring message resonance within rapidly evolving media landscapes.
  • Collaborate closely with key partners in Corporate Affairs and across the firm, including marketing, legal, compliance, investor relations, and business unit teams, among others, to ensure alignment, accuracy, and amplification of messaging across all touchpoints.
  • Monitor and measure communications impact using advanced media analytics; recommend and implement continuous improvements for greater influence and reputation protection.
  • Partner closely with a high-performance team of communications professionals and agency partners, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and integrity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS degree required; degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8-10 plus years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations.
  • Experience in the financial services sector or similar regulated industries highly preferred.
  • Strong media relationships in financial and/or business press, with experience shaping proactive and reactive narratives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital-first communications strategies and a deep understanding of the media landscape.
  • Ability to distill complex and regulated subjects into clear, engaging communications that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Proven success in securing high-profile speaking engagements and building executive visibility programs.
  • Experience managing sensitive issues and crisis communications in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in media measurement and analytics platforms.
