Position Summary
The Linux System Administrator provides high-level system administration, analysis, design, evaluation, standardization, implementation, and maintenance of client/server-based Linux operating systems, services, servers, and associated Linux server hardware and software.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs, configures and maintains hardware or virtual machines with Linux Operating systems to provide a stable and secure computing environment.
- Maintains and monitors the integrity of Linux operating systems and security access.
- Researches, installs, and tests software updates and patches to supported applications and various operating systems.
- Utilizes built in and add in system tools to troubleshoot system failures and network-related problems.
- Determines and resolves problem and coordinates support with hardware/software vendor as needed.
- Evaluates, designs, implements and maintains standardized server and workstation configurations.
- Researches new technologies; presents recommendations on hardware/software purchases; and provides direction, technical advice and guidance.
- Utilizes VMWare virtualization and SAN storage infrastructure to provision and maintain Linux servers.
- Adheres to procedures and protocols related to the implementation and maintenance of business-critical applications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- OR
- Associate's degree
- OR
- Information Technology certifications
- This position requires three (3) years of experience managing Linux systems such as RHEL, Debian/Ubuntu Servers, Photon OS or any other Unix-like system
