Job Purpose and Impact

  • As an Accounting and Reporting Analyst within the Trade and Capital Markets (TCM), you will help to establish and maintain accounting policies and fiscal controls and help prepare moderately complex financial reports and safeguard the organization's assets. In this role, you will help build accurate moderately complex financial statements that comply with established requirements and policies.

    Trade and Capital Markets (TCM) compliments the efforts of Cargill commodity business units by providing financial solutions to Cargill's business partners (suppliers and buyers). TCM's experience and expertise in global financial markets aid in mitigating documentary, cross-border and credit risks associated with structured trade finance. TCM plays a key role in funding the global operations of Cargill through cross-border funding structures and management of transferability and convertibility risks. In additional to structured trade finance and internal funding, TCM also leverages Cargill's international trade flows to create trade structures that provide funding to emerging market-based financial institutions and corporations.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting activities for the TCM business. This includes regular review of accounting records, profit and loss statements, position reports, journalizing activities, balance sheet and P&L reconciliation between different systems, management and corporate reporting, statutory audit, and local and US tax reporting.


Key Accountabilities

Financial Recording & Review
• Apply established accounting principles and techniques to accurately classify, record, and reconcile financial transactions.
• Review and validate accounting entries generated by product and operational systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Verify profit and loss (P&L) results, investigate variances, and communicate material fluctuations to management and trading teams.

• Prepare and post journal entries for trading, operational, and administrative activities.
Reconciliation & Reporting
• Perform balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, ensuring all balances are properly supported and documented.
• Draft sections of financial statements and management reports; support analysis involving deals or business activities.
• Review and prepare standardized accounting report packages with a high degree of accuracy.
• Prepare and support local statutory financial reporting in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
• Assist with corporate tax filings, indirect tax submissions (e.g., GST/VAT), and ensure compliance with local regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and relevant authorities to ensure timely submissions and responses.
Systems & Process Improvements
• Provide input on new system setups or enhancements to existing financial applications to improve efficiency and control.
• Identify and resolve moderately complex accounting issues independently, escalating higher complexity matters when necessary.
General Responsibilities
• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of 2 years of accounting / audit work experience. Typically reflects 3 years or more of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

• Accounting degree or an equivalent professional degree.
• Strong computer literacy, with hands on experience using advanced Excel functions and data handling features. Experience with VBA or Macros is an added advantage.
• Highly organized, thorough, and detail oriented in all aspects of work.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach in day to day responsibilities.
• Strong team player with high learning agility and adaptability.
• Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform well under time pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
