Grain Associate

This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Grain Associate, will sell directly to the company's consumers or business purchasers or indirectly through various sales channels. In this role, you will help identify and contact prospective customers, building relationships to generate future sales and repeat business, participate in assessing customer needs and suggest appropriate products, services and solutions. This role will focus on agricultural commodities such as wheat, durum, barley, canola. In this role, you will develop an understanding of Cargill's business operations, products, and services and how they fit into the opportunities and dynamics of the Western Canadian grain industry.
Key Accountabilities
- With supervision, help identify, develop and close new sales.
- Help support business growth by disseminating information that favorably promotes the organization and its products and services.
- Help monitor customer and competitor activity and industry trends.
- With supervision, coordinate market research, pricing and sales and merchandising activities.
- Participate in regular status and strategy meetings with customers' senior management to understand and meet their needs.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma/certificate or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Possess a valid, full Canadian Driver's License in good standing, authorizing you to drive independently during the course of your employment
- Able and willing to travel locally up to 10% of the time
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with agricultural commodity markets and the grain industry
- Previous experience in agriculture
