Senior Lead - Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Lead Engineer to join the Credit Bureau Dispute Automation Software Engineering team! As a Capital One Senior Lead Engineer, you will be part of a team focusing on building end to end software applications, touchpointing agentic frameworks, data pipelines, feature stores, ML models, UX, tools, APIs, SDKs, observability and cloud deployments for financial, compliance and banking use cases in the domains of disputes, fraud, money laundering. You will be building software as a service products that can make the work of a financial analyst and subject matter experts and agents more efficient, accurate and productive. You will be building some of the best products that can solve hard scaling challenges such as spark data pipelines to handle PII data and unstructured data through OCR, SOP automation through process graph generation using LLMs, observability using CloudWatch, Analytics using QuiskSight, StreamLit UX for front facing tools, Backend systems utilizing OpenSearch, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS etc. You will build intelligent and smart solutions to derive deep insights into platform's use-cases performance and compliance with industry standards. You will also contribute to building a system to deploy models, accelerating the move from fully trained models to deployable model artifacts ready to be used to fuel business decisioning and build an observability platform to monitor the models and platform components.

The CBD team is at the forefront of how Capital One handles disputes, complaints, money laundering and fraud. We drive new innovation and research and we are working to seamlessly infuse Agentic Framework into the fabric of the company. The LLM experience we are creating today is the foundation that enables each of our businesses to deliver next-generation products and services for our customers.

What You'll Do:

  • Architect and develop full stack solutions for monitoring, logging, and managing Generative AI , workflows and models
  • Architect, build and deploy well-managed core APIs and SDKs for SAAS, Cloud Deployment , observability utilizing Infrastructure As Code to power workflows, tools, UX, feedback loops, hosting models, serving models as a full stack engineer working on backend and frontend alike.
  • Work with model and platform teams to build systems that ingest large amounts of model and feature metadata and runtime metrics to build an observability platform and to make governance decisions to ensure ethical use, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards for Gen-AI
  • Partner with product and design teams to develop and integrate advanced observability tools tailored to Gen-AI
  • Leverage cloud-based architectures and technologies to deliver solutions for platform users providing deep insights into model performance, data flow, and system health
  • Collaborate as part of a cross-functional Agile team, data scientists, ML engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Use programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java
  • Leverage continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices, including test automation and monitoring, to ensure successful deployments of machine learning models and application code
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts / architecture choices clearly to a variety of audiences; ability to present design documents HLD and LLDs to Distinguished Engineers
  • Ability to mentor, coach team of 7+ engineers and sprint planning and delivery

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • At least 12 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture that is reproducible, scalable, flexible, observable and incurs very low maintenance load
  • At least 8 years of experience designing and building data intensive solutions using distributed computing
  • At least 8 years of experience building back-end services (Including but not limited to: Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, Node, Scala, TypeScript, Spring Boot)
  • At least 5 years of experience with the full software development lifecycle using modern technology in a business critical setting


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Proficiency in observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AWS OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar with a focus on adapting them for Gen AI systems
  • Experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML & LLM systems
  • Experience in Open Telemetry and prior experience in building SDKs and APIs
  • Experience developing and deploying platform solutions in a public cloud such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Software industry impact through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open source contributions, or patents
