As the Principal Architect for Investment Group Technologies (IGT), you are a senior technology leader responsible for shaping portfolio architecture that delivers industry‑leading investor experiences across Capital Group's investment management ecosystem. You will work closely with business and technology leaders to translate complex business challenges into clear, future‑ready architectural solutions, combining deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to support the firm's Long‑Term Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • You will lead and influence enterprise and solution architecture strategy for Investment Group Technologies in partnership with business and technology executives.
  • You will research, design, and guide cross‑functional architecture solutions to complex business challenges, applying architecture principles across software engineering, data engineering, data management, security, information, and integration architectures.
  • You will integrate business strategy, current technology portfolios, and external industry trends into target‑state architectures and multi‑year roadmaps for front‑office and investor‑facing applications.
  • You will research future industry and technology trends to assess relevance for Capital Group's environment and influence decision‑making across senior technology and leadership forums.
  • You will provide architectural leadership for complex or strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and architectural governance.
  • You will develop and communicate clear architectural narratives and business cases to drive alignment and informed decision‑making among technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • You will partner with Investment Group Technology teams to define application strategies, validate architectural patterns, and ensure effective execution.
  • You will mentor and develop architects and senior technologists, contributing to the growth and maturity of the architecture practice.

  • You have a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • You have 10+ years of experience in IT solution delivery and/or architecture roles.
  • You have deep understanding of investment management capabilities, industry vendors, and front‑office solutions across asset classes and solutions.
  • You have strong technical breadth across modern application design, distributed systems, and integration patterns.
  • You have experience architecting/designing complex solutions leveraging modern technologies (Cloud, Big Data, AI, UX, Streams, etc.)
  • You have enterprise architecture experience, including familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • You have exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to craft and convey compelling architectural narratives to diverse audiences.
  • You have a proven technology leadership in complex, ambiguous environments.

Southern California Base Salary Range: $234,276-$398,269

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
