Business Development Associate Snr - Institutional
We are looking for a high quality Senior Business Development Associate (Associate Director) to join our UK & Ireland institutional team which is currently composed of two Business Development Managers (Managing Directors), a Business Development Associate as well partner Institutional Client Managers. The team is responsible for our relationships with strategic institutional prospectus in the UK, Global and Local Consultant relationships as well as third party OCIO partnerships and sits within the broader UK Client Group.
In this role, you will play a key role in our Business Development efforts in the UK & Ireland, which is a significant market for Capital Group in Europe. Responsibilities include acting as the main day-to-day contact for a group of prospects, playing a key role in the generation of leads and meetings and partnering with the BDM's to win new business. You will also have the opportunity to work independently, supported by the team, on your own dedicated sales coverage as well as partner on our Global relationships managed by the team in conjunction with US colleagues.

The role is based in our London office which is our largest investment office outside the US, where we employ over 650 people in a new state of the art building at Paddington Square. We expect the successful candidate to focus their time on the UK and Ireland with short trips throughout the year.
Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
Target market:
- 'Evergreen' UK & Irish Institutions - LGPS, Independent OCIO Providers, Master Trust, Mega Corporate DB
- Consultant Partnerships - Global & Domestic Consultants
Sales process:
- Supporting our partnerships with Global Consultants, Domestic Consultants and OCIO providers
- Generating, preparing for and participating in prospecting meetings with BDM's and independently
- Representing Capital at industry conferences / seminars, ensuring we maximise prospecting opportunities by preparing thoroughly prior to the event, proactively networking during the event and diligently following up afterwards
- Prospect meeting preparation and coordination of follow-up items
- Proactively managing and resolving key dependencies relating to winning business such as mandate customisation requests
- Liaison with Investment Professionals, other institutional BDM's, BDAs and internal departments (Marketing, Fee Consulting, RFP team, Legal etc) as part of the sales cycle
- Maintaining information on prospects, target institutions and updating critical management information about prospects and clients into the required systems
- Coordination of material customisation with our Publishing Teams for use with prospects to create interest and build relationships
- Owning a defined set of clients including the development of a sales strategy, setting up prospecting meetings and promoting Capital. These responsibilities will grow as you develop more experience at Capital and progress towards becoming an Associate BDM (Director)
- Look for opportunities to collaborate to uncover sales opportunities across the broader UK Client Group the
Strategic market planning:
- Market research on our UK target institutions
- Development and exploration of new areas for business development
- Involvement in business planning alongside BDM and working with Business Management
- Preparation of management reports to reflect the new business effort
- Liaison with various industry organisations
Internal projects and Departmental participation:
- Work as part of a collegial team of BDAs that shares ideas and best practices
- Work as part of a broader UK Client Group committed to building Capital's business in the UK
Skills/qualifications:
- High quality interpersonal skills, especially influencing skills
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Demonstrable experience building new business (including cold outreach and relationship building)
- Experience of presenting to prospects, consultants, clients or colleagues
- High energy, hard-working, enthusiastic, focused and professional
- Financial / Investment and Asset Management knowledge- some fixed income experience would be helpful
- Comfortable discussing financial topics with prospects (product and asset class characteristics, macro themes etc)
- Graduate degree preferable
- Salesforce knowledge preferable
- Related professional exams or studying towards CFA / CAIA
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
