YOUR ROLE

JOB SUMMARY

Working closelywith and reporting to the Manager, Development, the Development Officer, MajorGifts is responsible for managing a blended portfolio of current andprospective donors whose engagement with Canuck Place Children's Hospicereflects existing and emerging major gift potential. Sitting within the MajorGifts team, this role plays a critical function by identifying, qualifying,advancing, and stewarding donors who may give personally, through communityengagement, or via family or corporate foundations.

Throughrelationship-based fundraising, the Development Officer, Major Giftscultivates, solicits and stewards donors across multiple giving pathways,applying moves management principles to support donor growth, multi-yearcommitments and long-term philanthropic investment. The portfolio may includedonors who are introduced to Canuck Place through community orstudent/youth-led initiatives, workplace or corporate activations, orindividual giving, with a clear focus on transitioning these relationships towardsustained major gift support over time.

This role iswell suited to a fundraiser who thrives at the intersection of engagement andstrategy, enjoys working with donors at all stages of their philanthropicjourney, and is motivated by building strong foundations for future major andlegacy giving relationships. The successful candidate will bring stronginterpersonal skills, sound fundraising judgement, skill in identifying andconverting new prospects, and a commitment to inclusive fundraising practices,while working collaboratively with colleagues across Major Gifts and otherDevelopment teams to ensure a coordinated donor experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages a portfolio of current and prospective donors,community partners and emerging philanthropists, working with the Manager,Development to set strategies and tactics to achieve an annual revenue targetranging from $450,000-$600,000.
• Develops and executes individualized cultivation,solicitation and stewardship plans for donors giving personally, throughthird-party initiatives, and via family or corporate foundations with giftsranging on average at the $5,000 to $100,000 level.
• Applies a disciplined moves management approach tosupport donor growth, multi-year commitments and increased levels of givingover time.
• Builds and maintains relationships with community groupsand associations, schools and student-led initiatives, supporting creative,mission-aligned fundraising and philanthropic engagement.
• Identifies opportunities to transition community, studentand event-based supporters into ongoing individual, corporate or foundationrelationships.
• Acts as a key point of contact for assigned community andemerging major gift donor audiences, providing guidance, resources andstewardship support.
• Works collaboratively with Major Gifts colleagues tosupport donors who engage through various giving pathways. Giving vehicles mayinclude gifts of securities, Donor Advised Funds, and other forms of donationsused by individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Prepares tailored proposals, impact reports andstewardship communications aligned with donor interests and Canuck Placepriorities.
• Works closely with colleagues across Development,Communications, Events and Donor Services to ensure a coordinated and positivedonor experience.
• Supports the planning and delivery of engagementopportunities and events for community, student and individual donor audiences.
• Tracks activity, engagement and results using the donorCRM, budgetary tracking, and prospect management tools.
• Monitors progress against goals, identifies challengesand manages up as required.
• Ensures accurate documentation, reporting and adherenceto fundraising best practices.
• Assumes other related responsibilities, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A related degree or diploma from a recognized educationalinstitute or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Ideally 3-5 years or more experience of progressivenon-profit fundraising experience including experience working with anindividual giving, major gifts or planned giving portfolio. This experienceshould include managing a major gifts portfolio, meeting revenue goals for theassigned portfolio, and securing higher levels of revenue and engagement fromexisting and new donors where possible.
• Experience working with volunteers, community groups, orstudent-led initiatives is an asset.
• Involvement with theAssociation of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or working toward CFREdesignation is an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Comfort working across multiple giving pathways,including individual, community, corporate, and foundation support.
• Ability to think strategically while executing tacticallyin a dynamic environment.
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach and a positiveteam-oriented work style.
• Commitment to inclusive fundraising practices andstudent-led philanthropy.
• Discretion and professionalism when working withconfidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with adonor CRM such as Virtuous or Raiser's Edge; familiarity with collaborationtools such as Teams, Slack or Trello is an asset.
• Public speaking and presentation skills, both in personand virtually.

• Flexibilityis necessary, as this position may require occasional weekend and evening workand travel within and outside Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
