As a Scientific Developer Intern, you will work with PhD-level scientists to develop and improve computational software for small molecule drug discovery. You will apply a variety of computational methods-such as free energy calculations, molecular dynamics simulations, and other modeling techniques-to enhance the accuracy and performance of the software. You will get an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and scientific research.
Key Learnings:
- Experience with OpenEye products used in state-of-the-art scientific research
- Experience developing in a professional scientific software environment
- Experience applying cutting-edge computational methods for binding free energy prediction
What you should have (formally MUST HAVES/REQUIREMENTS):
- Experience with Python programming
- Solid understanding of one or more of the following: statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, molecular dynamics, and free-energy perturbation theory
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a part of a diverse team
The following are a PLUS, but not required (preferred skills/experience):
- Practical experience running free energy calculations (e.g., RBFE or related methods) or conformational sampling in real projects
- 3+ years of experience developing in modern scientific languages (Python, C++ etc.)
