Background

As Signal's Communications Management function continues to deliver exceptional customer communication experiences, we are seeking Customer Communications Developers to design, build, and implement customer communication solutions that meet agreed objectives while supporting the development and continuous improvement of our technology-based capabilities.

Purpose of the role

The Customer Communications Developer role is essential to delivering high-quality customer communication solutions that meet client objectives. You will work closely with project teams and clients to clarify requirements, implement solutions, and ensure successful delivery of communications management projects. Working within a supportive team environment led by your Team Lead, you will contribute your technical expertise while continuously developing your capabilities.

This role offers opportunities to develop your technical skills across communication platforms and technologies while building strong relationships with clients and colleagues. You will play a key part in delivering Signal's reputation for exceptional customer communication experiences.

The Customer Communications Developer contributes to Signal's operational excellence by delivering accurate, timely projects that meet quality standards, sharing knowledge with colleagues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Communications Management function.

Throughout your work, you will demonstrate strong technical capability, collaborative teamwork, and a commitment to delivering results.

While our office is based in Cheltenham, we offer a very flexible hybrid working pattern, where the right candidate can be mostly home based if they prefer.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning

  • Work closely with project teams (including clients) to clarify requirements and suggest improvements
  • Attend client meetings to assist with scoping and briefing activities
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Estimate time and cost for your elements of the project
  • Take ownership of defining the technical solution where appropriate
  • Contribute to the preparation of project documentation
Project Delivery
  • Development and delivery of customer communication solutions to meet client objectives
  • Ensure testing is adequate and documented, following proper deployment processes
  • Ensure project documentation is complete and maintained to agreed standards
  • Keep project stakeholders informed of issues and progress
  • Effectively manage each project to meet deadlines and follow change management processes
  • Identify and raise project risks to your Team Lead for resolution
  • Collaborate with clients, Signal Project Managers, and third-party companies
Quality Assurance
  • Deliver work to quality standards and participate in quality checks
  • Support response to quality control incidents as directed by your Team Lead
  • Follow documented processes and procedures consistently
  • Flag process issues or improvement opportunities to your Team Lead
Project Reviews
  • Participate in project wash-up sessions to review performance
  • Make recommendations for improvements on subsequent projects
  • Contribute insights from project delivery to inform continuous improvement
Knowledge Sharing & Team Contribution
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues across the team
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of processes and practices
  • Support implementation of new products, features, and process changes
  • Participate in training initiatives to develop your skills and capabilities
  • Contribute to technical development within Comms Hub as opportunities arise
Operational Support
  • Apply operational controls as directed by your Team Lead
  • Support maintenance of documentation alongside team members
  • Work on change projects as allocated to your team
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment
