The role:



We are looking to hire an experienced Technical Program Manager who will work as part of a Trips TPM delivery function, to deliver complex software programs across Booking. We seek a TPM with a proven track record of supporting and collaborating with product and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong drive to deliver high-quality software as part of a passionate, experienced and forward thinking TPM function.

Your responsibilities:

  • To work with others to drive the delivery of high priority, complex technical programmes that require the coordination and collaboration of multiple teams and technologies
  • To coordinate and align teams on delivering programme outcomes
  • To lead delivery of initiatives through all stages ie: inception, discovery, through to delivery
  • To ensure a realistic and objective delivery plan is in place which is driven by data and appropriate delivery metrics
  • To visualise and manage programme risks, issues & dependencies to enable delivery success
  • To ensure effective management, communication and influencing of stakeholders is in place, for the programmes you are managing, across all levels of the organisation leadership
  • Own and drive delivery governance, ensuring processes are scalable and fit for purpose across cross-functional teams
  • To ensure effective software delivery best practices are in place which are consistent with good Agile delivery principles and the need of the environment you are working in e.g. working software as primary measure, deliver value early looking for fast feedback
  • Collaborate with our internal coaching team to focus on continuous improvement of effective software delivery
  • To work with product + engineering leadership across the organisation to drive alignment and decisions on technical or business goals, ensuring any programme goals are aligned with each area's roadmaps and objectives

Your skills and experience

  • Proven experience of leading delivery of critical business initiatives in digital organisations with Product and Engineering led teams
  • 3+ years of experience leading delivery of working software directly with product and engineering teams (e.g as scrum master, delivery lead, programme manager, with clear progression through roles)
  • Proven application of a range of lean/agile practices to deliver software at scale
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and management at all levels of an organisation e.g. from team to directors at all levels, both horizontally and vertically across an organisation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proven ability to influence and align product & engineering leadership (at all levels) towards a clear goal
  • Experience of balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity

  • Experience of working with annual and quarterly planning cycles structured around Objectives and Key Results
  • Experience of working in a large scale agile organisation, working directly with multiple product + engineering teams
  • Experience of managing external parties that are critical to delivery success
  • Experience of working in a large scale agile organisation that have varied agile methodologies + delivery practices
  • Knowledge and experience of Lean working and principles
  • Experience operating as a Technical Program Manager in an environment where engineering teams do not have dedicated Scrum Masters or Delivery Lead
  • Previous experience in any of the following roles; product lead, software engineer, agile coach, engineering manager
  • Experience of software modernisation programs e.g. legacy system modernization (monoliths to microservices), data or cloud migration, driving adoption of platform capabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of modern software development practices and Systems Thinking to solve complex cross-functional challenges
