As a Tax DTS Senior Consultant you will work for Booking.com in Amsterdam (Booking.com's headquarters). The tax department currently consists of around 40+ persons, which are working in either one of the two business focused verticals (Accommodations BU and Trips BU) or one of the tax horizontals (TP; VAT; Governance, Compliance & Controversy and Data & Technology Strategy). The role involves close interaction with our entire Tax team, our parent company Booking Holdings Inc, our sister brands, Fintech / Product teams and other Finance colleagues.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Tax DTS Senior Consultant to join our team and support the transformation and governance of tax-relevant master data across the organization. This role focuses on collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and maintain high-quality master data essential for accurate tax determination, compliance, and reporting. The ideal candidate has experience with master data management principles, data governance, and understanding of how data impacts tax processes in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Master Data Management and Governance

  • Execute the Tax Master Data Program and contribute to documentation and reporting on its progress, with the ultimate goal to maintain the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of tax-relevant master data for reporting and operations.
  • Conduct data analysis.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to embed the tax perspective into the design and maintenance of key master data objects.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor controls and mechanisms to ensure sustained master data quality for tax purposes.
  • Draft and keep up to date all Tax Master Data documentation and Policies.
  • Ensure tax implications are considered in the master data setup for all new processes, products, and business models.

Tax Policy and Process Improvement
  • Stay up to date on tax law changes and assess their impact on tax master data and processes; this may include collaborating with the Public Affairs team on regulatory policy.
  • Review and optimize existing master data processes, implementing controls and identifying opportunities for efficiency gains within the tax context.
  • Propose and develop recommendations for streamlining master data workflows using appropriate governance models and technology solutions.

Collaboration and Communication
  • Communicate tax data and technology requirements and updates clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the project management teams within DTS and other departments to track project progress and meet established milestones.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field - Master's degree preferred; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CPA, CMI) is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in tax technology.
    • Preferred experience with the master data cleansing and improving projects. Experience working with SAP/S4 is a plus.
    • Experience with other tools and technology such as AI, workflow tools (e.g. Jira, Asana), drawing tools (Lucidchart, Miro), data management, analysis and/or cleansing tools (Tableau Prep, Alteryx, SAC).
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • You will collaborate with teams across the business, Fintech / Product and Finance so stakeholder management and influencing skills are key.
    • Used to working agile and and comfortable working in a fast turnaround environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Knowledge Base:
    • Up to date awareness of tax technology trends and solutions in the market, (master) data bases, as well as legislating updates in the area of e-invoicing, data reporting, and other platform related tax requirements.
    • Preferably familiar with digital platform challenges, indirect tax' deemed supplier or marketplace facilitator rules, data reporting, PSP data reporting and e-invoicing/digital reporting.
