Payment Process Analyst

The Role:
Tasks and Responsibilities
Payments Processing & Controls
• Monitor & execute payments to payment service providers, properties and customers, ensuring they are processed correctly, on time, and issues are proactively identified.
• Work on daily ongoing payments processes with a critical mentality in order to make recommendations on how to eliminate manual work and make processes scalable.
• Preparing payment files and processing high volumes of payouts.
• Bank statement processing, GL reconciliation and clearing.
• Develop, implement and perform control procedures timely and accurately to decrease financial risks and proactively identify payout and clearing issues.
• Liaise with external vendors and confirm that Booking.com policies and processes are being followed.
• Liaise with teams within Booking.com to understand business needs and influence internal stakeholders on product development from a financial operational perspective.
Systems & Tools
• Actual working experience with Payments product and related tools.
• Experience with control and regulation frameworks within payments.
Process Improvements & Projects
• Identify innovative ideas to improve the customer & partner journey and increase efficiency.
• Assist in implementing new change initiatives.
• Drive or contribute to process improvement initiatives, ideally applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Educate internal teams on online payments-related inbound topics.
• Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation.
• Support and/or lead ad-hoc projects as requested.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
• Communicate proactively and clearly with stakeholders on issues to indicate progress and resolve them.
• Cross-collaborate with different teams and manage stakeholders across functions.
• Handle potential conflicts with a solution-oriented approach.
Skills and Knowledge
Education & Background• Background in finance, economics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional finance experience, preferably with tenure at Booking.com.
Technical & Data Skills
• SAP knowledge and experience (must-have).
• Autobank knowledge is a plus.
• Data skillset: ability to run and execute SQL queries.
• Capability to recognize patterns in data and navigate Tableau comfortably.
• Proven experience in handling payments processes, reconciliations, and controls.
• Proven experience in PbB.
Process Improvement & Methodologies• Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification (must-have) (preferred from Opex team at Booking.com).
• Application of Six Sigma or Lean principles in a real end-to-end process improvement project is a strong plus.
• Process improvement experience.
Soft Skills & Competencies• Accurate with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills; able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Analytical and critical thinker with problem-solving mindset.
• Customer-driven and service-oriented.
• Strong teamwork skills and interpersonal skills.
• Cross-collaborated stakeholder management and conflict management experience.
• Internationally focused and an awareness of different cultures.
• Consistent track record of meeting individual and team SLA/KPI targets.
