The role
In this ABU Forecasting FP&A Lead role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Accommodations department. This position is based in Amsterdam, NL and will report to the Senior Manager of FP&A, ABU Forecasting.
This position offers the opportunity to drive financial decision making within Booking.com. You will be required to provide strong financial and analytical support to your business unit (BU) or department's stakeholders. You will have to bridge what the data tell you and how that could help decision-making on a wide array of topics. You will be supporting the planning and forecasting cycles for both financial and operational business metrics. This includes revenues, expenses and other important KPIs; it also includes non-financial metrics and driver metrics of performance. You will also be involved in reporting versus budget and forecast and support on ad-hoc analyses whenever there is a need from the business.
The FP&A Lead, ABU Forecasting role, is an individual contributor. In this role, you will be the key contributor to drive change, with a wide span of activities, from the support to management to group related activities and FP&A transformational projects. You will partner with the Senior Manager of FP&A and the wider team to lead the agenda and the prioritization within ABU Forecasting FP&A. Your role will focus on projects improvements within ABU Forecasting FP&A, specifically: (a) Support the FP&A Senior Manager on a wide array of analytical and forecasting topics (topline submission during quarterly and annual planning) (b) Independently drive internal transformational projects in collaboration with different FP&A teams (c) Lead ad hoc projects and set up new processes (as needed) (d) Lead ad hoc analysis while setting high analytical standards and methodologies aiming to drive actionable outcomes
Due to the continuous evolution of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves. This role requires a dynamic and proactive person with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support with forecasting, variance analysis and reporting of financial performance;
- Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of the business unit or department's key metrics;
- Proactively deliver intelligence based on data to support and advise the FP&A team and/or business partners whenever necessary;
- Provide analytical support and contribute to strategic decision making;
- Continuously seek ways to improve and optimize the existing reporting to fit with evolving requests from senior management;
- Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance or other related field (preferred);
- 8+ years' experience in a similar role;
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive transformational projects to completion;
- High attention to detail and ability to connect the dots and reconcile multiple data sources;
- Strong communication skills and ability to present to different audiences;
- Self-driven mentality, proactively seeking to find solutions to problems and providing the best analytics possible to key decision makers
- Advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Experience with SQL, data mining, Microsoft VBA, reporting and AI tools
- Ability to understand, work with and proactively advise business partners;
- Sees the headlines or big picture whilst having attention for the details;
- Strong team-working skills with ability to work independently;
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and working in an unstructured environment.
