Insurance Manager

Role Description

Team and company background

Booking.com's strategic vision for the "Connected Trip" is to create a truly seamless travel experience - one that integrates flights, attractions, car rentals, taxis, insurance and protection products, and more into a single, cohesive journey.

While Booking.com has long been a global leader in accommodation, our focus is now on unifying all travel verticals to deliver a streamlined, end-to-end experience for our customers. The Insurance & Protection team plays a critical role in this vision. Our mission is to expand and enhance our product offering so travellers can enjoy complete peace of mind when booking any part of their trip.

As part of the Trips business unit, Insurance & Protection helps bridge the Booking.com of today with the Booking.com of tomorrow-driving the transformation from a single-product company to a multi-product ecosystem. At the heart of this evolution is a more personalised, effortless, and connected travel experience for every customer.

The Role

We are seeking insurance or financial services professionals to manage existing products and ongoing initiatives, as well as the launch of new and innovative insurance and protection products, with the overall goal of offering travellers complete peace of mind when booking any part of their trip at Booking.com.

The Manager will take ownership of specific product lines or commercial outcomes, acting as a bridge between high-level strategy and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product and project execution
    • Manage the end-to-end delivery of complex programs, driving projects from concept to solution.
    • Lead the development of new and existing insurance products by working directly with tech, product, design, copywriting, research, data, and operations teams to design and launch new products.
    • Translate technical insurance requirements into clear goals for non-insurance stakeholders, serving as the 'bridge' between the insurance industry and the non-insurance Booking.com business.
    • Track and report on project statuses and results to the Insurance leadership team, ensuring visibility on key deliverables.
  • Commercial and performance management
    • Own an insurance portfolio or complex initiative, including oversight of the budget, trading performance, and financial forecasting.
    • Drive the growth of your assigned product line or initiative by using market and customer insights to strengthen current positioning and identify new commercial opportunities.
    • Construct and present business cases, supporting models, and financial projections to internal stakeholders to justify investment in new initiatives.
  • External and Internal Partner Management
    • Act as the primary owner for key external insurance partnerships (insurance carriers, TPAs, brokers) related to your product lines.
    • Manage day-to-day relationships and performance oversight, including operational negotiations, ensuring partners deliver against agreed service levels and commercial targets.
    • Build internal relationships to further embed your insurance products into the Booking.com core offering
    • Ensure effective partnering with dependent internal functions (e.g., Finance, Legal, StratOps, Accounting, Tax, Customer Service, etc.) to support the existing business and drive future ambitions.
    • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure that all product designs and partner strategies meet regulatory standards across global jurisdictions.
  • Mentorship
