Role Description:
The Senior Specialist, Global Communications is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of strategic communication initiatives that align with the company's objectives. Building on foundational experience, the Senior Specialist takes on more complex projects, crafting compelling narratives and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
This role involves executing communication tactics independently, analyzing communication effectiveness, and supporting crisis communication efforts when necessary.
The Senior Specialist balances execution with an eye on how it all fits together, providing insights and recommendations to enhance communication outcomes.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Contribute to the development and execution of global communication strategies aligned with business objectives, brand standards, and tone of voice. Develop communication plans to ensure timely delivery, clear prioritization, and alignment with Global Communications goals.
- Support research and insight-gathering to inform communication strategies, narratives, and campaign development, leveraging data and modern tools (including AI) where appropriate
- May be called on to assist in research and data collection
- Draft and review press releases, pitches, and media materials to drive earned media visibility and awareness of the Booking.com brand globally.Collaborate closely with the global PR agency to support scalable earned media initiatives and campaign amplification.
- Support the development and execution of large-scale, research-based global communication campaigns across markets and channels.
- Develop creative content and campaign concepts that drive earned media coverage, including trend-led storytelling and timely newsjacking opportunities. Coordinate campaign execution across regions
- Analyze and report on campaign performance, using data and insights to inform optimization and future planning.
- Execute communication plans and complex campaign tactics, ensuring deliverables are high quality and consistent with our tone of voice and brand standards
- Develop and/or source creative content (graphics, presentations, videos) for multiple channels and aligned to brand standards
- Work with core communication tools and workflows to ensure efficient, consistent delivery across global communications. Support content planning and calendar management, contributing ideas and identifying opportunities for impact.
- Collaborate closely with Global Communications colleagues in Amsterdam and across regions and functions on shared projects and content creation. Provide constructive feedback on team processes, tools, and ways of working, contributing to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Stay curious and informed about global cultural trends, social conversations, and emerging platforms to strengthen relevance and impact.

Role Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor Degree
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Strong experience drafting/reviewing press releases and pitches for earned media.
- Good Understanding of Communication Principles: Strong creative skills, with the ability to develop ideas that drive earned media coverage - from campaign concepts to timely newsjacking and trend-based storytelling
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to the development of communication strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in measuring communication effectiveness and using data to inform strategies.
- Operational Excellence: Ownership of core processes supporting markets, including translation workflows for global campaigns, regular webinar set-up, wire distribution, and budget management
- Project Management Skills: Supporting end-to-end project management for large, research-based global communication campaigns.
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration: Help manage our global agency to support scalable comms initiatives and partnering closely with Global Communications colleagues on cross-team projects and content creation.
- Social Media Savvy: Actively spotting emerging social trends and translating them into creative opportunities for global communications.
- Adaptability and Eagerness to Learn: Open to feedback and dedicated to continuous professional development.
- Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity to global and cultural differences in communication styles.
- AI & Efficiency Mindset: Comfortable using AI tools and modern workflows to streamline communication processes and improve efficiency. Specific to this role: leveraging AI to support research, content drafting, and smarter ways of working across global communications.
- PR Agency Experience: Experience working with or within a PR agency, understanding how to collaborate effectively and deliver against earned media objectives.
