Role Overview:
The Team Lead Payments Operations is a 7-month fixed-term contract starting in May, responsible for helping apply the Finance strategy aligned with Booking.com's business objectives by working on key initiatives in Payments Operations. In this role, the Team Lead will develop and coach a team of Analysts and/or Accountants that champions a culture of continuous improvement, business partnering, and efficiency through the development of the right tools, growth, empowerment, and teamwork.
The Team Lead Payment Operations handles the operations team and stakeholders, serving as a primary business advisor. They take the lead in prioritizing and delegating new initiatives based on business impact, while developing the team to build meaningful, insightful reports and dashboards that help scale and steer critical business decisions.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Strategic Team Leadership: Inspire and lead a team of Payment Analysts/Accountants by translating company goals into actionable objectives and key results, balancing workloads, and driving high performance through active coaching and thorough performance reviews.
- Operational Excellence & SLAs: Ensure all payment processes are driven timely and accurately, maintaining a deep technical knowledge within the team to consistently meet important metrics and business objectives.
- Compliance & Governance: Be responsible for the control environment by reviewing SOx and business controls monthly, ensuring all reporting frameworks support accountability, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
- Data-Driven Insights: Lead the production of monthly and quarterly reporting for Senior Management, analyzing trends and variances to support strategic decision-making and process optimization.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a key liaison between Finance, Product, and Technical teams to handle user problems, advise on new data models, and assess the operational impact of new product developments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Progressive Finance Leadership: A seasoned finance professional with a proven track of increasing responsibility, possessing proficient knowledge of financial subject areas and a deep understanding of how payment operations impact the "bigger picture."
- Motivational People Management: A rounded, people-centered leader experienced in building high-performing teams; you are equally comfortable setting strategic goals and achievements as you are "rolling up your sleeves" to solve operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic Execution & Tenacity: A proactive project leader with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task under pressure, and drive sophisticated initiatives to completion with an analytical and curious perspective.
- Proficient Stakeholder Diplomacy: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style to influence, gain consensus, and collaborate effectively across diverse cultures and complex global departments.
- Agility & Resilience: A flexible, positive, and tenacious professional who thrives in evolving, demanding environments and can effectively navigate the ambiguity of a "start-up" culture within a large-scale organization.
