Role Description:

This role is based in Amsterdam and within the Accommodations Business Unit. In the Accommodations Business Unit, we're focused on building an accommodations marketplace that smoothly connects travelers with the right stay at the right price, and gives partners the tools they need to succeed.

The mission of the Pulse App Experience team is to enable partners to successfully complete their highest-priority tasks through an intuitive and reliable mobile application. As part of this mobile-first team, you will contribute to the end-to-end development and maintenance of the Pulse application, including core capabilities such as the activity feed, reservation and availability management, and partner messaging, as well as the adoption and integration of modern technology solutions.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Owns the end to end execution of technical and user interface elements in the Pulse mobile application.
  • Splits large tasks in manageable and decoupled steps.
  • Estimates and prioritises based on the implementation effort and customer impact.
  • Collaborates with other app developers, backend developers, product owners, quality specialists and other stakeholders, influencing the broader business through tech solutions.
  • Ensures the utmost high quality of the Pulse app in production, by monitoring crashes, firefighting incidents and solving complex bugs.
  • Contributes to the processes that support the release of new features for the entire company, such as the release process, the build process, etc.
  • Contributing to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer with strong proficiency in Kotlin.
  • Experience with modern Android development practices and good understanding of Android SDK.
  • Experience working with any of MVVM, MVI and MVP architectures and Jetpack Compose UI App Development.
  • Experience with version control tools like Git.
  • Awareness or experience with build tools, project dependencies, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to translate product requirements and mockups into fully functional components.
  • Ability to design and implement product features in collaboration with frontend and backend developers, UX designers, copywriters, test engineers, and other crafts.
  • Experience with applying test-driven and behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD) to write robust tests and uphold high code quality.
  • Basic understanding of software delivery and maintenance aspects: deployments, monitoring, scalability, security, reliability.
  • Familiarity with data-driven product development processes, including data analytics and A/B testing.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning and applying modern mobile development methodologies and tools to solve complex business problems.
  • Experience working on products impacting a large customer base is a plus.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
