Data Engineer, VP

About this role

This senior leadership position sits within Preqin's Data Engineering/BI team, at the heart of our mission to revolutionise private markets data and technology. As Vice President, you will report directly to the Director and play a pivotal role in building and scaling our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.

You will combine deep technical expertise with strong business-facing skills, ensuring our data solutions are robust, innovative, and closely aligned with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Preqin's Data Engineering/BI team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Architect and oversee the development of scalable, reliable data pipelines and analytics platforms, with a strong focus on Snowflake, SQL, and Python.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into actionable data initiatives, ensuring alignment with Preqin's and BlackRock's broader vision.

• Champion best practices in data management, governance, and security, leveraging automation, cloud technologies, and modern engineering principles.

• Drive the adoption of advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions, integrating technical innovation with business value.

• Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication of technical concepts and data-driven strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Oversee project delivery, prioritising work based on business impact and data-driven insights.

• Promote a collaborative environment, bridging the gap between technical and business teams.

About You

• Proven experience in a senior data leadership or principal technical role, with hands-on expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and Python.

• Strong track record of working with data engineers and BI analysts.

• Deep understanding of data architecture, pipeline design (preferrably DBT), and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS preferred).

• Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in business analysis, stakeholder management, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.

• Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach and a passion for innovation.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing long-term vision with immediate business needs.

• Prior experience with AI/ML projects, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with global teams and multi-language environments.

• Exposure to Kubernetes and advanced observability practices.

Our hybrid work model
