As Biogen embarks on its first launch in a new therapeutic area, the Medical Manager, Pipeline will serve as a strategic architect and scientific leader, responsible for building the medical function from the ground up. - Leads identification of unmet medical needs and the development of medical plan for pipeline assets
- Drives evidence generation to contribute advancement of science related to therapeutic area of pipeline assets
- KME engagement to optimize scientific knowledge exchange
Provides internal education of pipeline assets to the employees
Job Description
Identification of Unmet Medical Needs and Development of Medical Plan
- Identify unmet medical needs for respective therapeutic areas based on scientific data, clinical evidence, KME insights, and evolving standards of care.
- Develop and implement local medical plans for pipeline assets, aligned with Global and BIR priorities.
- Lead cross-functional medical planning, ensuring integration with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Market Access, and Commercial teams.
Data Generation & Dissemination
- Lead local medical input into evidence generation strategy, such as real-world evidence, registries, and investigator-initiated research.
- Identify and prioritize evidence gaps relevant to local clinical practice and payer needs for pipeline assets.
- Collaborate with Global/BIR/Development teams to shape Phase IV and post-approval evidence plans.
- Create scientific quality of study concepts, protocols, and key medical documents.
- Responsible for the study execution
- Disseminate clinical study data at relevant medical congress to facilitate understanding of pipeline assets.

KME Engagement
- Manage strategic relationships with Key Medical Experts (KMEs) to drive medical strategy and evidence generation.
- Identify the KMEs
- Conduct focused, compliant scientific exchange to validate unmet needs and emerging treatment paradigms.
- Conduct advisory boards and high-level scientific engagements where strategic medical input is required.
- Maintain a KME mapping and engagement plan aligned with medical objectives.
Scientific & Educational Support
- Provide scientific expertise and educational support to internal stakeholders.
- Interpret and communicate complex scientific data, publications, and clinical evidence relevant to pipeline products.
- Support medical training, scientific education, and disease awareness initiatives.
- Conduct scientific material review
Minimum Education Requirements
PhD in scientific discipline or equivalent scientific expertise.
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred or equivalent scientific expertise.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- 3 years of working experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or related pharmaceutical roles.
- Proven experience in medical strategy development, evidence generation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Fluent in English; local language proficiency required as applicable.
- Strong scientific expertise in immunology, or relevant therapeutic areas

- Strategic thinking and decision-making capability.
- Ability to synthesize complex scientific data into clear strategic direction.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Mental resilience in challenging situations.
