About This Role

The Medical Director, Neuropsychiatry role is a part of US Medical, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes. As a key member of the US Neuropsychiatry Medical Director office team reporting to the USM Neuropsychiatry Head , the Medical Director - Neuropsychiatry is the medically accountable lead for supporting the development and implementation of the US Medical Strategy for Biogen's Neuropsychiatry therapeutic area commercialized products and related assets. What You'll Do

  • Lead the long-range planning, development and execution of the US medical Omnichannel strategy, tactics, and budget in alignment with Global strategy & US budgetary expectations.
  • Serve as the US Medical expert within Omnichannel medical strategy and lead the medical content strategy in collaboration with the HCP segment medical directors.
  • Serve as the US Medical contact for key functions/stakeholders on the US affiliate level (e.g. Field Medical Teams (MSLs, Medical Account Directors), Commercial, Market Access, Legal/Compliance, Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance), effectively interacting and collaborating at multiple levels.
  • Develop the US Medical NP Omnichannel strategy and lead specific HCP segment projects to address identified medical/scientific educational gaps in close collaboration and alignment with US Neuropsychiatry clinical experts, marketing leads and CE&O.
  • Lead the US Medical NP evidence generation strategy in collaboration with global medical, HEOR and alliance partners.
  • Serve as US medical director lead for aligning processes, systems and metrics with alliance partners, in collaboration with US medical excellence.
  • Contribute to the development/adaptation of medical materials (e.g. presentations, trainings, medical briefs and talking points) for the US Medical team according to DSMR requirements and manage submission processes.
  • Present data at US Medical affairs events, including advisory boards and trainings as well as congresses & medical education events. Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders (including HCPs, healthcare institutions and advocacy groups) in Neuropsychiatry therapeutic landscape.
  • Create positive team climate in alignment with Biogen's culture.

Required Skills

  • MD, PhD, PharmD or comparable advanced degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role &/or Field Medical based role. Substitution of industry work with relevant clinical practice experience in Psychiatry may be considered.
  • Relevant experience in Psychiatry required (specifically mood disorders)
  • Experience in evidence generation required
  • Experience and expertise with digital medical solutions, processes, and systems
  • Strong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with medical launch as well as products at different stages of the lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed
  • Ability to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems
  • Experience managing and developing a team of Medical Affairs professionals

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $225,000.00-$310,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
