International Marketing Lead SMA
JOB OVERVIEW
The International Marketing Lead, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is accountable for all ex-North America marketing deliverables for SPINRAZA. To enable continued growth of the brand, they will coach the SMA Marketing team in refining near-term Marketing strategy (18-24mo) and short-term (6mo) execution. Under the leadership of the International commercial lead and in partnership with iCoE cross-functional partners, the International Marketing lead will ensure deep understanding of market dynamics in key affiliates, co-creation of new branded and unbranded materials, share affiliates best practices, as well as manage above market initiatives and build learning journeys on new content.
The Marketing Lead is a role model for the International SPINRAZA brand team. This individual has a passion for understanding customer needs both externally and internally and competitive intelligence to ensure a clearly differentiated marketing strategy supported by strong executional pull-through.

The International Marketing Lead is a high-impact, hands-on creative leader that is accountable for key tactics of the Marketing strategy and cross-functional execution. The incumbent will work extensively with the regional/affiliates teams. This individual will need to be able to connect and engage stakeholders effectively, be cognizant of key differences across European and Intercontinental markets and be able to coordinate and drive forward key activities via matrixed and geographically dispersed teams to ensure successful execution on the strategy.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
1. SPINRAZA Marketing
- Driving marketing core initiatives and above market deliverables from concept to deployment
- Own the Spinraza marketing plan from insight to action through iteration
- Develop concept initiatives and deliverables according to annual tactical plan (incl. face to face, digital, and congresses/events) by co-creating with Marketing Leads from key markets and cross-functional
- Provide project plan and ensure that committed milestones are achieved on time and efficient on costs and resources by accurate Project Management
- Work with creative agencies and internal digital resources to develop branded and unbranded assets while aligning with Marketing leads from key countries
- Run PRC review in line with the SoP for material creation above market
- Develop internal communication plan for the deployment of the initiative or material for release
- Gain insights in local operations model and customer needs by joining congresses, and engaging in double visits and local customer-facing activities
2. Affiliates Engagement
- Lead the International Therapeutic Area Forums (ITAF) to communicate brand strategy, disseminate tactic outputs (e.g. guidance, omni-channel enabled.content/materials, tools), and collect market and competitive insights, and affiliate needs of iCoE. Includes affiliate "1:1s" to better understand individual market dynamics and needs.
- Foster exchange of best practices & shared knowledge to coach and support affiliates and ensure efficiencies across the organization.
3. Execution Excellence
- Drive execution excellence to support SMA brand strategy & messaging
- Coach junior marketers and product managers to ensure international consistency of branding and messaging throughout above market initiatives & deliverables
- Create the marketing tactical plan - leading through ICP and AOP during annual planning process
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's/Advanced Degree required
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; rare disease preferred
- Global/Regional commercial launch experience, and business operations
- Demonstrated expertise in building cross-functional brand plans that support positioning, competitive messaging, and tactic development
- Demonstrated strong analytical and leadership skills, including creative, problem-solving mindset
- Previous sales experience or roles that demand high interaction with customers are highly valued; pipeline or commercial development experience is welcome
- Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans and collaborate with and motivate cross-functional teams
- Strong planning, organization, analytics, decision making and problem solving
