Head of Portfolio and Project Management, Biogen WCH

About the Role:
The Head of Portfolio and Project Management at the Biogen West Coast Hub (WCH) is a leadership role with strategic, enterprise-level responsibilities focusing on transformation and operational efficiency. This leader is accountable for shaping and executing portfolio strategy, driving an operational efficient PM organization, and ensuring operational excellence across clinical programs at the West Coast Hub (WCH).
What You'll do:
1. Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
- Define and implement the WCH portfolio and project management strategy, aligning with enterprise objectives.
- Lead the Portfolio & Project Management function, influencing organizational direction and decision-making.
- Partner with WCH Chief of Staff and counterparts at Biogen HQ to maintain awareness of, and alignment with, corporate processes and initiatives.
- Lead the group in piloting and adopting WCH-specific versions of HQ processes and initiatives, including communication and knowledge-sharing efforts.
2. Transformation & Operational Excellence
- Champion lean simplification, cultural integration, and continuous improvement within and across initiatives.
- Provide strategic support to the Development Therapeutic Area Heads and other leadership teams.
3. Financial Stewardship
- Partner with Finance on and the Head of Strategy and Operations on the departmental budget and resource allocation across all portfolios and initiatives.
4. Governance & Decision-Making
- Establish and oversee governance frameworks from IND through Proof of Concept and into pivotal, late-stage development.
- Ensure consistency in governance across all indications and programs within the WCH.
- Run high-level WCH Development governance meetings and ensure alignment with Commercialization Teams supporting the WCH.
5. Team Development & People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing functional team of project managers, planners, and resource managers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and drive professional growth across the function.
6. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
- Drive organization-wide enhancements in methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement at scale, both within the WCH and in partnership with HQ.

Required Skills:
- Proven experience in biotech / pharma portfolio and project management at a strategic and operational level with ~15 years of experience.
- Preferred Master's degree or higher in the biological sciences or other related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to lead transformation initiatives and drive organizational change.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget ownership and planning.
- Expertise in governance frameworks and decision-making processes.
- Track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $232,000.00-$319,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
