Head of Medical Access
About this Role
The Head of Medical Access is a critical leadership role within US Medical, responsible for leading and developing the US medical access strategy in close collaboration with US Market Access & Reimbursement (MA&R). This individual will lead a team of National and Regional Medical Account Directors (MADs) who serve as scientific and strategic partners to US healthcare systems and payer organizations. The leader will drive the integration of scientific engagement, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and access strategies across national and regional levels to support all of Biogen's Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and pipeline. This leader will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including US MA&R, US Marketing, Global Value & Access, and US Medical Affairs TAs, to ensure alignment and execution of medical access strategies that improve patient outcomes.

What You Will Do
- Develop and lead the US medical access strategy in close collaboration with MA&R across all TAs and pipeline.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of National and Regional MADs to ensure consistent execution of medical engagement strategies across all payer segments.
- Set strategic direction and oversee execution of US HEOR-Access medical strategies, ensuring alignment with therapeutic area priorities and access goals.
- Ensure the MAD team delivers high-quality scientific exchange and effectively communicates HEOR and real-world evidence (RWE) to payer stakeholders, including clinical teams, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), specialty pharmacy providers (SPPs), and integrated delivery networks (IDNs).
- Drive medical excellence through clear performance goals, strategic engagement, and continuous improvement via metrics, training, and collaboration.
- Represent the MAD team in internal forums and with senior leadership to advocate for resources, share insights, and align on enterprise priorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional field and home office colleagues to meet customer needs with high-quality, customer-focused support.
- Serve as a key member of the North America Medical Extended Leadership Team, contributing to departmental strategy, capability building, and cross-functional alignment.

Required Skills
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, Pharm.D., Ph.D., DNP).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within Medical Affairs, Market Access, or Managed Markets.
- Proven experience working with national and regional payer organizations.
- Deep understanding of medical engagement, healthcare/pharmaceutical environment, regulatory environment, field medical operations, scientific communication, and compliance.
- Performance oriented with business acumen, a focus on customer experience, and a patient-centric approach.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and work independently in a field-based role.
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Skills & Therapeutic Area Specific Skills
- Clinical experience and subject matter expertise in neurology and/or immunology.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive strategic alignment.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $238,000.00-$327,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
