About This Role: As the Director, Global Launch Excellence Lead for the SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the entire global commercial launch process. This role demands a strategic thinker who can lead cross-functional and cross-regional teams to develop and execute comprehensive launch plans. Your efforts will directly support Biogen's strategic objectives by enhancing organizational capabilities and fostering agile decision-making. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, you will design and implement key initiatives spanning external engagement with healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers. This position is integral to strengthening launch impacts and informing strategic decision-making, ensuring seamless integration with the Thecaflex team for optimal cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop impactful launch plans for the SMA portfolio.
  • Drive strategic and operational rigor in managing integrated launch plans, including timelines, budgets, and risks.
  • Serve as an integrator for the IDU and Thecaflex programs, facilitating decision-making and removing barriers for launch priorities.
  • Build and maintain tools to plan and track launch progress, enhancing team collaboration.
  • Coordinate the development of presentations to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Define and execute a global engagement strategy across healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers.
  • Provide regular launch progress updates to leadership and key governance committees.
  • Enhance organizational capabilities through new methods and tools to maximize launch excellence.

Who You Are: You are a collaborative leader with a deep understanding of the launch planning horizon and the role of each function in launch execution. You have a proven track record in leading cross-functional teams through successful global or regional product launches. You excel in strategy, execution, and people management, with exceptional communication skills that ensure effective cross-functional alignment. You possess a strategic mindset and embrace innovative technologies, leveraging AI-enabled tools and advanced analytics to drive decision-making and enhance commercial execution. You are forward-thinking, digitally savvy, and committed to championing emerging technologies to improve productivity and organizational effectiveness.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with at least 3 years in launch readiness roles.
  • Strong commercial experience, ideally at regional or global levels.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and digital innovations.
  • Experience in rare diseases or neuromuscular conditions.
  • Proven ability to lead in a matrix organization.
  • Anticipated international travel up to 15%.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD, PharmD) preferred.
  • Experience in global marketing or brand leadership.
  • Exposure to pre-launch, launch, and early in-line phases.
  • Strong track record of delivering results while enhancing collaborative culture and employee engagement.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $200,000.00-$275,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
