Project Overview:

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility - a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Joining the Fab 62 team means contributing directly to one of the most strategically important construction efforts in the United States and helping deliver the infrastructure behind the next generation of microelectronics."

Job Summary:

The Workface Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and supporting workface planning processes to ensure craft professionals receive complete, constraint-free work. The role serves as the critical link between engineering, procurement, construction, and field supervision by translating project deliverables into executable work packages aligned with construction priorities. The Workface Planner drives readiness, constraint removal, and field productivity through effective planning and coordination of work execution. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:

Work Package Development
  • Develops and maintains Installation Work Packages (IWPs) in accordance with project AWP and workface planning requirements.
  • Ensures work packages contain all required engineering, material, safety, quality, and execution information needed for field installation.
  • Aligns work packages with construction priorities, area execution plans, and project milestones.
  • Verifies work package quality, completeness, and constructability prior to release.

Constraint Management
  • Identifies, tracks, and drives resolution of constraints impacting work package readiness.
  • Coordinates with engineering, procurement, materials management, construction, quality, and safety organizations to remove barriers to execution.
  • Maintains readiness status and supports proactive issue escalation.
  • Supports development of mitigation and recovery plans for unresolved constraints.

Planning and Coordination
  • Participates in look-ahead planning and readiness reviews.
  • Works closely with superintendents, field engineers, and construction managers to understand upcoming work priorities.
  • Aligns work package release schedules with labor availability, access, material delivery, and execution sequencing.
  • Coordinates package updates resulting from design changes, field conditions, or execution adjustments.

Field Execution Support
  • Supports construction teams during package execution and resolves planning-related issues.
  • Monitors package performance and gathers feedback from field supervision.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve package quality, sequencing, and productivity.
  • Supports continuous improvement of workface planning processes and standards.

Progress and Performance Management
  • Tracks package release status, readiness metrics, constraint trends, and planning performance indicators.
  • Supports reporting of workface planning metrics and package health.
  • Analyzes package execution performance and recommends improvements.
  • Maintains planning data within project systems and digital execution platforms.

AWP Implementation
  • Supports implementation of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes and standards.
  • Ensures alignment between Construction Work Areas (CWAs), Construction Work Packages (CWPs), Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), and IWPs.
  • Participates in AWP reviews, readiness assessments, and planning workshops.
  • Promotes consistent application of workface planning principles across the project.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience [OR] 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Workface Planning (WFP), and Installation Work Package (IWP) methodologies.
  • Knowledge of engineering deliverables, material management, construction sequencing, and field execution processes.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, work packages, and material status reports.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods across one or more disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, or instrumentation.
  • Experience with constraint identification, readiness planning, and look-ahead planning processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, procurement, construction, quality, and project controls organizations.
  • Proficiency with project controls, planning software, AWP tools, and digital construction platforms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, schedule-driven project environments.
