Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its Manufacturing and Technology Global Business Unit (M&T GBU) Engineering Team. In this role, you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team supporting the EPC Phase of a large-scale industrial development that includes gas turbine power generation and multiple high-demand tenants such as AI Data Centers and Giga-Factories. You will be responsible for process engineering leadership, including the development of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and coordination with other disciplines. You will also serve as a technical interface with clients, supporting permitting documentation, resolving complex engineering challenges, and ensuring alignment with project requirements. Your role is accountable for management of Process Engineering staff, technical scope, schedule, and cost for the process discipline.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead process engineering for gas turbine power generation and balance of plant systems from design to startup.
  • Manage technical scope, schedule, and cost for process engineering deliverables.
  • Support planning, scheduling, and staffing to enable successful project completion.
  • Develop and review calculations, PFDS, P&IDS, equipment datasheets, and control philosophies for power and utility systems.
  • Accountable for coordination of engineering activities, in accordance with the established technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
  • Manage scope change and coordination of changes with client and home office engineering teams.
  • Execute complex engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection for EPC projects.
  • Review design deliverables for compliance with codes, standards, contracts, and company protocols.
  • Coordinate with drafters, designers, engineers, and monitor progress and outcomes.
  • Oversee design of process utilities like steam, water, fuel gas, nitrogen, plant air, and chemical dosing.
  • Ensure all work follows relevant industry standards including ASME, API, NFPA, ISO, IEC, EPA, and OSHA.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and construction for technical alignment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead improvement initiatives.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in industrial process engineering, with a focus on power generation or large-scale utility systems.
  • Has current PE license or in process of completing PE licensing process.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership in large EPC projects and multidisciplinary team coordination.
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic design environment, ensuring clear and timely scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of utility systems supporting gas turbines, combustion systems, HRSG integration, and grid interconnection. Systems: steam, condensate, cooling water, potable water, demineralized water, fuel gas, nitrogen, plant/instrument air, chemical dosing, ammonia, and wastewater.
  • Strong grasp of process engineering principles and practices relevant to power generation and utility systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental and safety codes and regulations affecting process design.
