Project Overview:

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership"

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepares or approves mechanical engineering project procedures on a project.
  • Collaborates actively with the Project Engineering Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), and Project Controls to align mechanical engineering tasks.
  • Reviews and approves mechanical engineering design documents such as equipment datasheets, specifications, material requisitions and bid analyses / technical evaluations.
  • Responsible for addressing and resolving mechanical engineering-related field or jobsite issues.
  • Effectively conveys complex technical matters and offers suitable recommendations to clients, project and functional management.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • A recognized degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional license in a recognized licensing board (or international equivalent) is preferred.10+ years of progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering but may include other relevant types of engineering including startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical engineering systems and design, including the ability to perform or review engineering calculations such as CFD analysis for equipment within buildings, hot air recirculation (HAR) studies to optimize outdoor dry cooler layouts, PUE and energy-efficiency calculations for Data center projects, and mechanical equipment selection criteria.
  • Knowledge in a wide range of mechanical equipment such as Chiller packages, HVAC equipment, Compressors, pumps, skid mounted packages, heat transfer equipment, Pressure Vessels, Scrubbers, Fire-protection and exhaust systems.
  • Knowledge of Data center projects, with experience in mechanical cooling systems and equipment, including cooling architecture, chilled water systems, chiller plants, CDUs, wall-mounted CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers/dry coolers, HVAC systems, humidification, and hot aisle containment.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
  • Knowledgeable in industry and regulatory codes and standards, as well as facilitating coordination for necessary approvals.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  • Experience with modular design projects is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductors and AI Data Centers will be given preference.
