Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. The candidate will act as the Field Superintendent - Electrical - on the CCGT Project in Pecos, Texas. The candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job Summary:
The Electrical Field Superintendent provides onsite leadership for mechanical construction activities primarily focused on the project's Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs craft labor and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, the Field Superintendent resolves constructability issues, supports the development of work scopes, and ensures effective use of automation tools and project procedures. The position plays a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution. #LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities:
- On a small to medium job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section
Leadership/Supervision
- Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
- Leads in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
Work Planning & Packaging
- Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
Material Management
- Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.
Quantities
- Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire:
- Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous experience delivering a combined cycle power plant as Field Superintendent.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Oversees the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
- Inspects installed components for technical acceptance.
- Oversees the development of Commodity Installation means and methods.
- Implements understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
- Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
- A thorough knowledge of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) erection.
- A thorough knowledge of Section 1 and B31.1 codes.
- Competent in supervising heavy lift activities.
- A thorough knowledge of welding, including the latest technologies and NDE methods
- A strong background in union craft management and understanding of the project labor agreement.
