Project Overview:

Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist in interpreting and integrating health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring. Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
  • Assists development and implementation of Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
  • Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
  • Interprets safety and health requirements and provides guidance on risk assessment and ESH program execution.
  • Researches issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
  • Provides support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
  • Participates in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
  • Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their concerns.
  • Participates in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent from an accredited university or college in an applicable technical discipline such as environmental science, ecology, biology, natural resources, or related disciplines
  • Four or more years of experience related to applicable environmental sciences or regulatory requirements
  • Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge or experience in environmental impact assessment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation
  • Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping
  • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions
  • Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of tasks
  • Valid Drivers License
