Job Summary:

The Area Expeditor supports on-time delivery of project materials by monitoring and expediting supplier and sub-supplier activities from engineering through fabrication, inspection, and shipment. This role conducts on-site visits to verify progress against purchase order and project requirements, identifies schedule and quality risks, and drives timely corrective actions in coordination with the Project Expediter and project stakeholders. The Area Expeditor communicates status through regular updates and formal visit reporting, ensuring accurate visibility to delivery commitments and potential impacts to project milestones.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Receives assignment package, supplier/sub-supplier contacts and details from Project Expediter for execution according to purchase order & project requirements.
  • Coordinates expediting activities with the Project Expediter, and Bechtel project and support personnel. Attends project/supplier meetings as required by project.
  • Monitors all supplier operations for material specified in the purchase contract, including procurement, production, planning, engineering, fabrication, assembly, testing, surveillance and shipment.
  • Evaluates fabrication progress at the suppliers' plant through visual observation. Reviews and monitors sub-supplier procurement and receipt of material, expedites engineering and data submittals.
  • Reports information to Project prior to and after each visit either with written or verbal communication as agreed with Project Expediter and submits formal AEX-101 Report within 48 hours from visit date.
  • Analyze supplier schedules and progress reports to determine if they support the project required delivery dates. Identifies potential risks, initiates or recommends corrective action to supplier and Project, and tracks all activity through closure.
  • Works with Supplier Quality Representatives to ensure quality standards are met. Reports out and escalates any open quality issues on AEX Report that will impact schedule or fabrication progress.
  • Coordinates with Supplier Quality Representative for notice of inspections per ITP and Surveillance Quality Plan to support schedule milestones.
  • Provides updates and validity of shipping and tracking information.
  • Reports supplier status information such as supplier labor, supplier management changes, product changes and lead times as necessary.
  • Responsible for adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Area Supervisor or Expediting Operations Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years' industry experience or related manufacturing experience.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Competency in reading and interpreting supplier fabrication schedules. Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and purchase contracts. Basic computer skills in Excel, Word and Teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Ability to provide risk analysis and recommendations. Ability to work independently.
