Department Overview
TheBDTechnology and Engineeringteamis responsible forproviding technical system recommendations/requirements toBD's customersand working with the customers to deployand upgradeservers and software in preparation for the local project team. SystemsEngineersare assigned to customer projects andaccounts based on regional/nationalorganizational structures. TheSystemsEngineers work with theprojectimplementationand upgradeteamstoward the common goal ofan on-time, successful system implementationor upgrade. Activities includetechnical sales support,server deployment,software deployment,devicesoftware upgrades,systemdesign,and configuration tasks.In addition tocustomer-facingresponsibilities, thisteamis also responsible for many backend businessfunctions including equipmentand softwarelogistics,documentation,product development input/R&D collaboration, solutiondesign best practices,and quality system requirements.TheSystemsEngineer will work closely with R&D for IDN level build andarchitecturaldesign,as well as product XDE/Limited Release participation.Organizational Readiness activities involve remote and on-site support of thereadinessprogression and cross-functional team participation.
Purpose
The Systems Engineer has experience with a wide range of BD products and related interfaces. This role's primary duties will be to perform upgrades and/or migration activities and involves interaction with customers, deployment teams, and other Engineers. The effective Systems Engineer must be able to clearly communicate, thoroughly document, and demonstrate product server & software competency. The Systems Engineer must have the ability to establish collaborative working relationships with cross-functional project & product teams with matrixed reporting to the Upgrade/Migration Team management.
Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for server deployment, software upgrades, and OS migrations while following technical documentation, validating new products, executing test plans, and implementing system integration solutions.
- Expected to work with peers on technical opportunities, participate in cross-functional teams, establish rapport with internal and external customers, and collaborate on confirming specifications and requirements.
- Must possess knowledge of hospital information systems, system validation, active directory, databases, cloud technologies, and system virtualization, with ability to troubleshoot, analyze processes, and deliver technical presentations.
- Required to maintain accurate and up-to-date records, follow and provide input to product documentation, work independently, comply with all deployment policies, and monitor critical issues.
- May need to obtain security clearance and pass background checks for DHA/VA programs, while demonstrating excellent organizational skills, flexibility to adapt to change, and ability to multitask on projects focused on legacy and ancillary systems.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degreeor equivalent experience isrequired.
- Experience withsmall to mediumprojectsrequired.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experienceinhealthcare information systems.
- Twoor more yearsina healthcareenvironment with technical (systems) involvement and computerized system applications.
- Must have a working knowledge of a variety ofOperating Systems,software applications, includingBDproducts.
- Certifications: VMware, SQL/DB Admin, Microsoft Technologies, HIPAA, Active Directory, IT Security, AZure, or AWS.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must provide proof ofandmaintaincurrentimmunizations and obtainadditionalimmunizations appropriate for and required by the facility which enables access to customer sitesin order toperform essential job functions.
- Mustmaintaina current driver's license and meetBD's auto safety requirements.
Work Environment:
- Travel may range from5% -15%,overnight travel.
- The positionrequires flexible working hours, includingsome nights and weekends.
- Ability to work independently fromahome office.
