Job Description

Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)

  • Continuous education on CBP, FDA, Supply Chain subjects.
  • Establishment and oversight of an internal customs compliance program to satisfy CBP's "reasonable care" requirements.
  • Guarantee the correct HTS classification of finish good and raw material.
  • Guarantee the valuation of material through the involvement of the finance team.
  • Determination of the country of origin of the locally manufactured product.
  • Provide support in responding to all CBP inquiries, including requests for information (CBP Form 28) and notices of action to the Global Trade team.
  • Review certificate of origin documents generated by the US importing entity.
  • Work with regulatory affairs to ensure that the FDA information required for importation is correct and up to date.
  • Direct supervision of US customs compliance.
  • Maintain professional relationships with local FDA authorities.
  • Establish departmental budgets and maintain KPIs on budget performance.
  • Responsible for the team that processes invoices to guarantee current payment to the supplier under his administration.
  • Lead the effort to maintain the C-TPAT certification together with all the teams that must deliver procedures to maintain the desirable profile.
  • USMCA annual request for supplier certificate of origin completed.
  • USMCA annual review of full qualification.
  • Responsible for the team that processes entry information to American Customs, transmitted electronically.
  • Maintain control of US invoices.
  • Others as defined by the manager.
  • Handling and approval for payment, vacations, and absenteeism for US Customs employees.
  • Guarantee the training of the work team:
  • Understand the importance of facilitating ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Assess training needs and identify means (e.g. classes, tutoring, written materials) to fill skill gaps.
  • Provide opportunities for staff to demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Provide a clear and meaningful performance evaluation.
  • Encourage the development of skills that increase personal and departmental productivity.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree; career in International Trade preferably.
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in logistics and customs.
  • Legal knowledge and management of US Import and Export preferably.

Language Skills: Advanced
