Job Description Summary

The Senior Environmental and Safety Engineer will lead and direct the Environmental Programs for the facility. The person is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures. The person will ensure compliance with all BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function, as well as the ability to speak, read and write English. Must uphold BD values.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure safety amongst associates in the facility relating to chemical, weather, environmental, machine safety or ergonomics.
  • Values safety for yourself and others around you.
  • Provide oversight and direction for day-to-day compliance with applicable air, hazardous waste, wastewater and storm water permits, plans, regulations, etc.
  • Ability to interpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape and analyze the various options for complying with new regulations and permit requirements.
  • Conduct IH testing as needed/required Provide training for associates to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Lead plant in maintaining ISO 14001 certification and ensuring continued compliance.
  • Ensure all work performed complies with all environmental and hazardous waste procedures, plans, policies and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirement:

  • BS Environmental Engineering or similar degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience.

Work Environment:

  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy
  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
