BD's Pharmacy Automation portfolio covers a wide range of hardware and software technologies from storage and dispensing robots, inspection systems, pouch packagers, vial filling systems, blister card production robotics, and central fill solutions with enterprise pharmacy management software.
This technical leader will be responsible for leading the design and development of key Central Fill New Product Development initiatives within the Pharmacy Automation robotic portfolio.

Thisideal hardware engineering leaderwilldisplay excellent multi-functional communication skills, strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, anddemonstratetheabilityto bring clarity to ambiguous areas to drive decisions. Strong business acuity with steadfast focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and expedition in delivery of projectswill be pivotal in this role.Demonstrated analytical, decision making,prioritization,and problem-solving skillswill be key.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic hardware direction to improve customerefficiencywithin Pharmacy Automation's Central Fill Portfolio.
- Lead functional members of the Hardware Engineering Team through the development of key NPD initiatives by providing day to day technical guidance to ensure work is high quality, on-time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to brainstorm and define technical product strategies and technology roadmaps. Establishahardware architecture that meets requirements within a standardized set of product offerings.
- Clearly articulate the vision and plan as to how a concept could transition into a profitable solution. If required, quickly drive hardware concepts into prototypes tovalidatefeasibility andeliminaterisks.
- Assess all proposed custom developments and proactivelyidentifyrisks and issues and advance them asappropriate.
- Use a data driven structured initiative prioritization process to ensure high value items receive proper attention.
- Develop an integrated R&D product development project plan to deliver and implement efficiently and with sound quality.
- Collaborate with core teams and other functional leaders to ensure that proposed hardware developments are aligned with organizational goals andobjectivesand provide updatesonprogram performance metrics and progress of plans.
- Apply the best engineering practices in design, analysis, simulation, integration, test, and documentation in all engineering subject areas.
- Ensure alignment to company processes and procedures including Design Controls, Product Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, Phase Reviews.
- Utilize Design for Six Sigma development methodologies and other best-in-class R&D tools across the portfolio and provide training and guidance to assigned team members as needed.
- Provide labor and non-labor needs and schedule estimations for hardware related scope and work.
- Plan and administer yearly portfolio budget to ensure proper execution of deliverablesarealigned to business value.
- Work with R&D functional leaders to assign engineering fields necessary to achieve key goals.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadershipto directandin-directreports with the ability to deep dive into technical issues.
- Clearly articulate goals and expectations to individual contributors to support the team's success while constructively mentoring and givingappropriate feedback.
- Help support a data driven culture.
- Closelymonitorproduct field performance and conduct RCA analysis on top field failures.
MinimumRequirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering field
- 7years' related work experience in leading complex electro-mechanical product development.
- Experience leadingengineering teams that consist of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and controlsoftware engineers to meet planned achievements.
- Experience withautomated equipment including robotics,conveyance,and associated process control.
- Understandingfull cycle product development and quality management systems.
- Understandingcurrent safety and regulatory standards for automated equipment.
- Experience working with global teamsandexternal development partners.
- Leadership experience in a complex development environment.
- Experience with development milestone planning and project management methodologies (Agile and/or waterfall) for complex systems
- Willing and able to travel10-20% ofthe time
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in engineeringfield
- Experience using simulation software to proactively model and analyze system performance.
- Central Fill medication fulfillment experience
- PMP Certification
